Gray grasscloth peel and stick wallpaper in a bedroom.
I'm back with an update on the master bedroom makeover! I'm SO so pleased with how it's coming together.
I shared the wallpaper I'm using in my last update. It's peel and stick and I find them very easy to apply. You can see all my tips on hanging peel and stick wallpaper in this post!
Here's a closer look at it -- I've been REALLY impressed with the quality:

Here's the faux grasscloth paper I used. I really don't think I could love it more:
I used scrap wood for chair rail (happy accident) so that's why one piece is painted dark blue. (It's leftover from my big fireplace grid project.)
I noticed when I used that blue trim that this wallpaper would look great with dark blue, gray or white. Any guesses what color I'll be using?:
As I mentioned in my last post, grasscloth doesn't have a repeat, so you can see where the individual panels run down the wall. It's a look you either like or don't. I do. :)
I will say this stuff doesn't show as much as real grasscloth -- it's much more noticeable with that.
We really love it. It's so fresh but classic at the same time. And yes, I'll be painting that vent to match:
Here's a look at this view after the floors went in:
And how that looks now with the wallpaper!:
I used eight rolls -- at the discounted price this project cost me $120 and a few days of work. Not bad at all!
I wanted to mention this stuff is VERY forgiving -- as is most wallpaper from my experience. But because there is no repeat on this you'll use a lot less. I was able to put pieces together in smaller areas and you'd never be able to tell.
Next up, painting under the chair rail! Can't wait to get this finished up! :)
Have you dipped your toe into wallpaper yet? It's back in a big way and I'm loving it! (See how I've used it in our home.)

I read the reviews on Walmart website and several complained that rolls were different shades. Did you have this problem? Were all of your rolls from the same lot? Also does it have a texture to it?
ReplyDeleteYou're in luck, she answered both those questions in her first post about this wallpaper: https://www.thriftydecorchick.com/2019/10/our-impromptu-master-bedroom-makeover.html
DeleteIt never occurred to me to paint an a/c vent to match the wall! Will you show us that project please? I have a white vent on a buttery yellow wall that has stuck out like a sore thumb for years.
ReplyDeleteYou'll need to take it down and clean it well -- make sure and get any dust off. A few coats of spray paint will do the trick! :)
DeleteYour master bedroom looks beautiful! I love the wallpaper and was considering using it in my powder room. I also read the reviews on Walmart's site and several people complained that the wallpaper did not stay adhered to the wall. Were you concerned about that happening or did you do anything extra to prevent it from falling down?
ReplyDeleteI've read that too and have never had that issue with peel and stick wallpaper. I can't figure out why it would do that, other than the walls were perhaps either textured or had some kind of residue on them. We don't even have corners coming up (on either room I've used it on.)
DeleteI was going to ask the same question Kim did about the wallpaper adhering well. I also noticed in the reviews that several people mentioned noticeable shade differences from one roll to another. I'm assuming you had no issues with yours?
ReplyDeleteI address the shade issues in my video here: https://www.thriftydecorchick.com/2019/10/our-impromptu-master-bedroom-makeover.html
DeleteI've never had issues with the paper not adhering! See my answer to Kim above. :)
This kind of wallpaper sometimes has a bit of sheen or shininess to it but in your photos it looks amazing and doesn't look like it does. Does it have a shine to it?
