Tour our Christmas kitchen and morning room

December 07, 2018

It's so nice to enjoy the house now! Next year I AM going to start earlier. I know it's been a year, but I still feel like we're getting settled in the new house. I think next year I'll feel more on top of things.

For now I'm going to share the kitchen and dining area with you! I'll do a full tour sometime over the next two weeks, but for now I'm breaking it down a bit. Enjoy!!

I'll add links to specific projects under each photo:
Christmas gray and white kitchen

I grabbed a bunch of the real greenery from Costco this year and used over the front door and the stairs. The extra bits I had were swagged over doorways. I just love it! And YES, it's already getting crispy. That's why I don't put it where it will be touched. 👍

I found these Santa hat chair covers at the dollar store -- what a great deal right?:

I was going to put them in the basement but I tried them here last minute and LOVED them. So fun!:

I find (especially in the kitchen were there's already enough STUFF) that you don't have to add much to make it look festive. A few little additions and some faux greenery are plenty:

The chair covers just kill me. RUN to the dollar store! :)
Black and brass lights over island

I had hoped to get one more DIY project completed in the kitchen before the end of the year, but I don't think it will happen now. It's not a labor-intensive one, so who knows. You know me. ;)

The plan for that wall with the shelves has been delayed till next year, when the budget allows:

I keep boxwood wreaths up year-round, they look great all the time!:

Greenery and ornaments are my go-to -- so easy and cheap!:

Our dining area is a more casual space, and isn't really a separate room. I like to call it the morning room because of all the natural light we get in there:

If you missed the big updates I made in there recently, be sure to check those out! I have always said blue is a neutral and goes with just about anything -- even red looks great with the dark blue walls!:

Buddy hasn't moved in three days. He must like this spot!:

These inexpensive wood troughs I made years ago always come in handy during the holidays!:

This year I purged quite a bit holiday stuff I've had forever. For the first time in a long time I may shop for some deals after Christmas. I would like more decorative items like the brass reindeer (affiliate) I found at Target:

I tend to just add to things we already have -- adding the berries around the candle, the poinsettia in the planter (the olive tree finally gave up), greenery here and there.

But I'll be on the lookout for some decorative pieces too:

I didn't change up the new shelves as much as I thought I would -- yet again, a couple simple additions were just fine!:

The gnomes from IKEA are new this year and I just LOVE them. I'm not big into gnomes but these spoke to me for some reason. They are the cutest!:

I love them perched on the new window seat!:

I hope you enjoyed the tour of the kitchen and morning room! If you have questions about anything, let me know! I still look around this house (especially this time of year) and pinch myself. We are so in love with our new home! It's so comfy and cozy like our old house, but open and airy too. The best of both worlds!

I'll be back next week, have a wonderful weekend my friends! :)

  2. Those Santa hat chair covers are so cute! I love all the touches of red with the greenery. I used less fresh greenery this year because I got tired of it drying out. Yours looks beautiful though. Loved your tour!

  5. I enjoyed the tour! Festive but not overwhelming. Perfect! How do you hang your wreaths at the windows? I use T-pins but my wreaths are higher and it doesn't show. Plus, I'm going to get new windows and I don't want to put t-pins or nails in them to hang the wreaths. Would love to know your secret.

  10. Question: where did you get your charcuterie boards leaning up against the wall behind your stove top? I saw one at IKEA over the weekend, but it was just the sample and no inventory :(

    1. The tall one is from IKEA :) The round one is from Pottery Barn -- it was on sale when I got it. Keep checking IKEA cause it's a good deal!
