Hello again! We're still not past this virus (I've heard from many of you that it's bad where you are too!) but we're coming through the other side finally. Turns out our kiddo has pneumonia, but they caught it really early, thank goodness. I'm just glad he's on meds and on the mend. Man, this was a rough week!
Between the doc appointments and naps, I got my fall porch finished up and I'm excited to show you. You'll have to bear with me every fall and Christmas because the porch will always be decked out...it's one of my favorites about this house. LOVE IT.
I tore out the poor, straggly petunias from the summer and planted a mix of purple and green kale varieties with orange mums. It came together really beautifully:
I couldn't find smaller mums for the window boxes but finally found these at Home Depot. They just happen to be my favorite. They're the puffball version (my technical term) and they are so pretty! I've found them in the larger size in the past and just adore them. (Check them out on our by our old outdoor fireplace here!) These were on sale for only a buck each at HD!
I really wanted to find some berry colored mums to go with the porch but I was pleasantly surprised at how these came together:
The purple, green, orange and yellow work really well together.
I made this pumpkin door wreath a few weeks back and it is precious:
The simple combo of the eucalyptus and pumpkins is my theme for the year. (You can see my moody fall mantel here if you missed it!)
I also shared how I made these super cute DIY fall signs a couple weeks ago:
I finished up the porch with some pumpkins and mums -- one of our local nurseries had a $5 mum sale a couple weeks ago. An amazing deal!:
Man, the mums are slooooow to open up this year, right? Is it just Indiana?
Then I grabbed some orange pumpkins to finish off the stairs:
I used to add cornstalks to our small porch at the old house but I didn't think this space needed it. I didn't want to go too crazy. Maybe next year. ;)
I found some of the heirloom pumpkins at Traders Joe's for over by the bench. They are easy to stack!:
I took our welcome sign down off the porch for the rest of the year -- I feel like there's enough going on for fall and at Christmas:
That gather pillow used to be a placemat -- my little hack turned it into a seasonal pillow. Super cheap way to add a fall touch!
When it got dark I turned on the candles in the lanterns and then put a few simple votives out -- just because it was pretty!:
By the way, the votive holders are just old (glass) yogurt containers. :)
They'll only be lit when we have people over but I just love the look! I love this time of night...it is my absolute favorite!:
Check out the DIY landscaping light tutorial here if you're interested in adding similar lights to the outside of your house.
I hope you enjoyed the little tour! I just adore having a porch to decorate. Sometimes I drive by our house before I pull in the driveway just so I can look at the front. *Don't tell anyone.* 😂
Have a great weekend my friends -- does anyone have any fun plans? We're going to get plenty of rest and heal up around here!
I love your porch. It looks so welcoming! I loved the wreath so much I bought supplies to make one. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteAs usual, I love it!!! Great job.
ReplyDeleteI love the porch and the signs are super cute! Quick question-where did you find the wooden baskets that the mums in the front are in? Thank you for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Those were from Hobby Lobby! I caught them half off.
DeleteThat's awesome! Thanks for letting me know!
DeletePorch is super cute! I live in Michigan and still getting over pneumonia....going on 5 weeks of head cold that went into my chest. Feeling better but it's wicked! I hope you all heal up over the weekend....take it easy and rest a lot.
ReplyDeletelooks great. i hope each day your guy gets better.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful!! You are so talented. If you don’t mind, what are the colors used on the exterior of your house? I just love your choices. Hope you and the family are well soon. Bless your sweet son!
ReplyDeleteThank you Vicky! The gray is called Knight's Armor from PPG paints and I believe the trim is Pure White by SW.
