The perfect, affordable metal farmhouse style metal bed!
If you're looking for the perfect cottage core/farmhouse metal bed, this one is for you!
This metal bed with the detailed head and footboard is a beautiful option -- even if farmhouse isn't for you. It easily transitions to a more traditional style as well.
I drooled over this this metal bed from Target for nearly a year -- I absolutely loved the farmhouse yet classic feel and thought it would be lovely in our guest bedroom:
Because it's a guest room I didn't want to spend much on it though -- the full size was only $320 but even that was more than I was willing to spend. So occasionally I would check out the site and see if it was on sale.
Back in the fall it was -- score! It was on sale and had free shipping. Then I was able to use at least one coupon code (just do a "Target coupon code" search) -- if I remember right I used two codes but I hear they only allow you to do that occasionally. So after all of that I got this $320 bed for around $240. Not bad at all!
I waited to put it together because I was planning to spray paint it. It's a dark bronze and I really wanted black. But then it got cold. :) I didn't want to stand out in the garage to spray it and I knew the spray wouldn't work great in lower temps, so I went ahead and put it together.
I LOVE it!! It's so pretty! And plenty dark as it is.
Here's what the room looked like last time I shared it with you, after the new paint, wall treatment and bedding:
I love that tufted bedding from Walmart! It is such a good deal for the set and looks identical to the West Elm version I had eyed for years.
I like a layered bed so I when I found a pretty blue and green duvet cover at Bed Bath and Beyond on clearance, I picked it up as well. It came together beautifully:
The bed was very easy to put together -- it took me less than an hour. I just love the look!
I've never had a bed with a tall footboard like this. It makes the bed feel finished, if that makes any sense:
The bed does take up more space than just the frame -- it's about eight inches longer, so keep that in mind if you are interested in this one. Also, having the footboard takes up more visual space as well, but the design helps to alleviate that a bit.
I love the it! The turned details are pretty but simple:
I put one of my DIY sunburst mirrors above the bed because I stole the one that was up there for the staircase. :)
This one is pretty large so I think I'll look for something else for that spot. We'll see:
I think this metal bed would be adorable in a kid's room as well! It would be so fun spray painted in a bright color like red or yellow too. It's hard to go wrong with this one.
As a reminder, here's what the guest room looked like last year before I started the updates:
That ombre wall was fun but I was ready for a new look.
Here is it now, after quite a few changes:
The wall color in this room is called Softened Green by Sherwin Williams and the photos today with the new bed are more representative of the true color. The before photo further up in the post was taken on a day with not great light that changed the color a bit. It is a beautiful lighter gray green color!

I love it! Very serene and inviting. I am giving our guest room the evil side eye too. It's been untouched since we moved in 6 months ago. I just posted our mood board yesterday if you want to peek? Going for a calm and serene look as well. Thanks for the inspiration! :)

I bought two twins of the exact beds when they were on sale for my guestroom to replace a double bed. I needed more sleeping options for the grandchildren, but wanted beds that would also be comfortable for our adult guests without looking like they were sleeping in children's beds. I was amazed at how sturdy and well-made they are and the price could not be beat. I shopped for beds for months everywhere from online to every furniture store in the city, but because I needed two I was suffering from "sticker shock". After reading the reviews I took a chance on these (on sale plus free shipping) and was surprised at the quality and heaviness of the beds. I still haven't bought bedskirts. Do you mind sharing the source for yours?
ReplyDeleteI love it. WOW. This room is beautiful. I just want to curl up and take a nap. It is so inviting.
ReplyDeleteLove it! My aunt has a similar bed in white that was passed down from her grandmother and I've always been obsessed with it.
ReplyDeleteDarn it, Sarah! I've been eyeing that bed for quite awhile for our master bedroom redo, but I had myself talked into making do with what we have for awhile. Aaaaaannnnnd, now I want it again. Looks great! LOVE that bed (and will probably be buying one soon :).
ReplyDeleteLove the room!! I could see the wall the bed is on in a deep color, burgundy maybe? Either way it looks great!!!
ReplyDeleteThat bed just looks so cozy! I've been eyeing bedding just like that so I'm glad you posted a great version! Thanks
ReplyDeleteThis looks great - what a cozy room!
ReplyDeleteWell, I didn't think I liked metal beds, but then, you posted this. Converted! It's gorgeous!

ReplyDeleteDefinitely use it and love it now! Finishing up those half done tasks can be very satisfying. I am mid-renovation here and spent this rainy day going through our garage and knocking off those little 15 minute projects. So much more space. The bed looks great.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see your post on differences california disneyland versus walt disney world..planning to visit disneyland in may and hope it was good choice. love your blog Sarah
ReplyDeleteThat looks lovely :) The bedframe ground the bed so much more and suits the room perfectly.
