Chevron painter's tape

So here it is – my second attempt at chevron.
If you remember I tried it a few months ago with my chevron Frogtape painter's tape:
WELL. Funny story. When I was cleaning out the garage a couple weeks ago I realized I used the WRONG chevron tape.
I work with Frogtape and they sent me their new shape tape before it even came out in the stores. This one must have been an early prototype that they didn’t use.
I grabbed this one off the shelf and didn’t even realize it was different from the others. The actual chevron Frogtape is actually much more chevron-y and less Charlie Brown-y.
I laughed out loud when I realized what I had done. Leave it to me. So last week I decided to do another little redo to that trash can.
I spray primed it and then spray painted it white…again. :) Then I played around with the tape to figure out the design I wanted.
I was originally planning a thin line of chevron around the top and bottom but decided on a slightly different design instead:
I just offset the second line a bit to make it not exactly chevron.
I rubbed some gold rub n buff in between the tape and that was it!:
I decided simpler was better. :) Much better. This I love!
Their shape tape comes in three different designs – chevron, scallop and wave. See the cute fall craft I created with the scalloped painter's tape and then the wavy painter's tape here.
As you can see you don’t have to use them as they come -- play around with them a bit to make your own look!
definitely want to try the chevron - i've been wanting to put chevron stripes on a pair of cabinets in my living room but i don't trust my hand-taping skills. i have been wondering if they had a chevron tape, even if i don't win i'll definitely be picking up a roll!!
ReplyDeleteI would like to try the "Charlie Brown" looking chevron tape for a project in my daughters new "big girl" room.
ReplyDeleteI love the scalloped one--I would use it to paint a colored trim on the bottom of my daughter's boring white curtains. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the chevron tape…that would make a white lamp shade with gold paint look amazing! I just had our master bedroom painted and after the holidays I plan to add some grey…and gold to the space and FINISH it up! (I swear…finishing a decorating project is the hardest part! I can't even admit how many times I'd get 1/2 way done and never finish…only to want to redecorate again! ugh!)
ReplyDeleteYeah, that first one was much more zig-zag than chevron. I love your second try! I used mine (from Haven) to do a single row of chevron-y goodness on the edge of my outdoor tablecloth. Good times :)
ReplyDeleteChevron is my favorite! Thanks for a fun giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI would love to try out the scallop tape for a project in my girl's room!

Definitely the scallop!!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love this, the chevron is so pretty and this is so elegant with the gold rub'n buff. Great idea. I hope you have a fabulous Thanksgiving. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteI would probably try them all, but I think the scallop looks enticing!

ReplyDeleteScallop! I would love to start a new project!
ReplyDeleteI think I would try the wave or the scallop. I haven't really gotten with the whole Chevron trend thing but the waves or scallops I think I could do something fun with!!

I like what you did with this! I hated the first one as much as you did. No, really, I did! I am not a fan of the chevron. I like the wave and I love-love-love the scallop!
ReplyDeleteI would love to try the chevron tape in my step sons bedroom!
ReplyDeleteOh I do like it much better! Your bold decision to offset the chevron pattern is brave - I'm sure I couldn't do it! LOL Here's what I made with the chevron tape - love it!!

I love the new look! I'm still not huge on the chevron trend, but small doses are starting to appeal to me more. I like the idea of making a different pattern with them too. Thanks for the idea!
ReplyDeleteI'd really love to try the wave!
ReplyDeleteI would love to try the chevron!

I would have to choose chevron. I just can't shake that obsession yet.
ReplyDeleteThe wave is cute, but I really like the scallop! You did a great job with the chevron!
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah, that looks better :) I like that you put your own spin on it. I like all of the shapes and would find things to spiff with no problem!
ReplyDeleteChevron! I want to try to make the diamond shapes that they show on the package!
ReplyDeleteI loved the sanded down version of the wastebasket you made originally. Seriously so impressed with how that turned out, I could see that sold for big bucks in the stores. New version is cute too. I'm sold - I'd love to try the chevron tape!
ReplyDeleteI really like the new one also. I think I would like the scalloped tape the best.

I like this one better Sarah!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to try the Chevron! I painted some night stands for my girls last year, and my stencil work didn't turn out. This would be a great fix.
ReplyDeleteI love the 2nd attempt! So simple and classy!
ReplyDeleteI would like to try the scallop tape, I think scalloped borders are the cutest, Happy Thanksgiving Week!
So fun, I would love to play with them, pick me! Love the gold!
ReplyDeleteOh, girl, I would use the chevron. I actually looked for it in the store last week, but couldn't find it. I'm sure I'm not looking in the right place, though. Love your gold can!
ReplyDeleteI'm really liking the offset look of it. And the colour looks much better too. :)
ReplyDeleteI would use the chevron. Girl, I love me some chevron <3
ReplyDeleteI'd love to try any of them on all kinds of projects I have running thru my brain!

ReplyDeleteI'd like to try the chevron. Looks great off set like that!
ReplyDeleteI love the Chevron. I would want to try that!
ReplyDeleteI love this! How did I not know this existed?! All of them look great but I totally have a project that the chevron would be perfect for right now!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to try the chevron tape! Looks so easy! Love it!
ReplyDeleteI'd like to try the chevron tape to paint a big, wide stripe in my twin's room!
ReplyDeleteI'm curious about the wave one - it's the one I think I've seen the least of.
ReplyDeleteAnd by the way - I'm in LURVE with your new trash can. I like the simple so much more than the busy!
I would use the chevron in my bathroom in the nook where the toilet is. Or the scallop up by the ceiling in my girls' room. This looks like the perfect thing for either project! I looked for something like this but couldn't find any in my small town.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving!

ReplyDeleteThis sounds a little funny to say, but that is the most beautiful trashcan I've ever seen! :) This is some chevron I could get into. I think you took the chevron look to the next level...love it! I would love to try this chevron tape, but let's be honest - Frog Tape is so cool that I would love to try any shape!! I want to make some pillows for my front living room, and the tape would give it a really cool look! HAPPY THANKSGIVING, Sarah!! :) (P.S. Hope your cold has gone away!)
ReplyDeleteI like both versions of your trash can. I'd like to try the chevron. Happy Thanksgiving! History teacher (at) gmail (dot) com
ReplyDeleteI would love to try the scallop. Could be pretty used on something in my girls room :) Love your blog. You cleaning out that you have been doing has got me majorly cleaning out my home. :)
ReplyDeleteI would love to try the chevron on my diy canvas drapes! Love that there's an option that isn't so time intensive!
ReplyDeleteI picked up a great wooden bin at a thrift store to refinish for my son's room. I've had a hard time commiting to a design but the chevron would be a fun little touch!
ReplyDeleteLove the simpler design! I'd like to try the scallop. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteLove what u did with your project !! Very pretty! I Love Chevron !!! Can't get enough of the pattern lol, think chevron or the wave I would like to try ! Thanks so much and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your Family!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely the scallop. It just screams Circus! And I can think of at least one configuration that would be very Art Deco! Happy Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteI would try any of them! They seem so fun! Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteI would love to try the wave! :)
ReplyDeleteChevron. I like the trashcan redo. :)

I'd love to try the chevron but can't seem to find any of them in stores near me! :( boo hoo.
ReplyDelete:) Happy Thanksgiving!
Kelly
I like the scallop one. My 3 year old's room is likely going to need an update soon from nursery to not so baby room! That would be great in there.

I'd love to try out the chevron tape!! I've been obsessed with the pattern for a while, but I'm somewhat leery to try it out. I'd probably experiment first on a canvas, and make an art piece for my living room, and go from there!!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!!! :)
I LOVE the wave, but would most like to try the chevron. I just love chevron and my house could sure use some more of it!
ReplyDeleteI would love to try the chevron or the wave. Love all of your ideas! We recently moved (ok, February, but still), and I need to do a cleanse like you have been doing. Such a fun blog!
ReplyDeleteYou have such wonderful ideas. Enjoyed scrolling through your blog.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter and I recently started a blog. The URL is: Momandihookedonthrifting.blogspot.com
Hope that you will check us out sometime. Also will look forward to returning to your blog for inspiration. Happy Holidays! Julie
hey Sarah- I like the new and improved version of the wastebasket. I would love to use the chevron for a wood tray I am redoing to use on our ottoman. I have it stained Kona but thought a distressed cream chevron stripe would be fun on the inside of the tray. Have a great Thanksgiving

I would love to try the chevron!
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to try out the chevron tape for months! But I feel I've gone a little overboard on the Chevrons. I'd like to try out the wave tape.
ReplyDeleteI love what you did with he waste basket, it looks fabulous!
I didn't know Frog Tape made Chevrons. I really like your first one.
ReplyDeleteThe scallop is calling my name!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity and Happy Thanksgiving!
Would love the chevron tape....great redo!
ReplyDeleteI like the chevron tape - but I like how the website did the living room gallery, where it's white and gold on white, so it looks like little gold diamonds. Love it!!
ReplyDeleteI'm in LOVE with chevron and haven't used it anywhere in my house yet. I'm finishing up a kitchen redo - will try to post some photos for you when it is finished. I'm also in LOVE with your blog - on this day before Thanksgiving I would like to thank you for all of your great work!!!!
ReplyDeleteI loooove chevron anything, but to be honest, I'd love any of the patterns!
ReplyDeleteEverything is well designed your site and very nice with many choices, it is a wonder! Congratulations. friendly

ReplyDeleteI think I would like to try the wave!
ReplyDeleteI would like to try the wave {waving hi} margav at yahoo dot com
ReplyDeleteI like the chevron. I, too, haven't fully decided on where I stand with the chevron trend, but I like how they used the chevron tape to make diamonds in the picture on the frogtape website. So cool!
ReplyDeleteThis is way better than before! and love how you didn't make it chevron, phew! I'm over the craze!
