Mantel decor: From busy to soothing

I'm sharing how a few small changes can change up a space in our home. My challenge was our bedroom -- no spray paint, no DIY tweaks. Just decorating!
Thing is, I love our bedding (from HomeGoods, shock) so I needed to focus on a different area in our master. I headed to the store and found my inspiration right away!
The space I wanted to focus on is the mantel – earlier this year I changed it up with some Goodwill art:
Soooo. I like it at first. It was dark and moody and it reminded me of a special place for my husband and I. But within a few weeks it just got…well, dark and moody. ;) And I love those floofy things off to the side but they were kind of weird up there.
Soooo. This is the spot I changed up. Instead of floofy things I went with classic candlesticks:
I saw that beautiful box with the navy blue accents and knew it was perfect. (You can see my navy blue lamps here.)
The other side is filled with items that were already up there – I just pulled in a navy blue book to bring some of that color to that side:
I changed out the orchid pot too to a darker one (just switched it with another orchid). By the way – see those blooms? Yes, I successfully grew an orchid that rebloomed. GOLD STAR for me. Although I have no idea how I did it, I just noticed one day it was blooming again. Soooo.
I’ve talked about my method for accessorizing a space before and I followed that here – variety in heights and pulling similar colors in throughout. It seems to work.
I also picked up a throw because I clearly don’t have enough throws as it is (that’s sarcasm if you can’t tell):
Isn’t that beautiful? It’s so soft! By the way, the settee and the pillow, both from the HG a while back.
Oh, and I almost forgot the most important part! The part that inspired the whole redo, the big mirror:
Ack! So much better! Eventually I’d like to place some DIY art above the settee but for now I just removed a few of the frames that were up there and love it simpler like this – it can breathe now. :)
By the way, a smart designer once told me not to use mirrors above fireplaces, (because they reflect the ceiling) and for years I fought hard to follow that advice. But I’ve since realized that they’re fine – quite lovely actually. It’s hard to fill that space above a mantel and sometimes a mirror is the very best thing for it. I take it all back – put a mirror up, it’s OK. :)
You’ll notice that these walls aren’t the new wall color yet. That’s because 1.) I’ve been lazy and painting the tall walls sounds as fun as walking on hot coals 2.) I’m still not 100 percent I’m going with the color I picked out.
So there’s my update with a few accessories – it took me all of 15 minutes to change it out. For me that’s a record.
Home Goods just recently came to our area. So excited! Thanks for the giveaway! The mantel looks great! maendeyo(at)hotmail(dot)com
ReplyDeleteI love home goods! And our rental can use as much help as it can get! I am so sick of white walls!!!
ReplyDeleteYour mantel looks lovely. HomeGoods is awesome. Just wish there was one closer to me. Actually, maybe that's for the best. I do make a trip out there at least once a month and I never leave empty handed. I think their lighting and mirror selection is amazing. jenx95(at)gmail(dot)com
ReplyDeleteI go to Home Goods anytime I need a pick-me-up after a long day of teaching. I always find something for my home or even personal use, such as lotion or makeup brushes. It is my Go-To store for anything decor related. Love it! Love TDC too.
ReplyDeleteI love Home Goods. Even though they are not close by I try to make it to see what they have at least once a month. rlidge(at)hotmail(dot)com
ReplyDeleteI love Home Goods! shannonduff17(at)hotmail(dot)com

ReplyDeleteJohannapatino@hotmail.com
I love Home Goods!! If I'm looking for anything, Home Goods is the first place I go :)
ReplyDeleteThe mantel looks great! I would love to add some decorative accessories to our living room, which still looks as hodge podge today as it did when we moved in! He's hoping I win!
ReplyDeleteOops - I got a bit click happy and hit publish before leaving my email! Best one is willgellar@gmail.com!
ReplyDeleteI hear singing when my car enters the parking lot. It's a wonderful store, always filled with something new and exciting to discover. It's hard to say I have one favorite purchase, but the one that always brings a smile to my face are the tall apothecary jars on my counter. Right now I am transitioning them from summer to fall, so I have cut silk mums (also from home goods), around a tall pumpkin spice candle for one jar. The other is filled to the top with lemons, but will soon be replaced with gourds), the short squatty one was just switched from moss to candy corn. katradroid (at) gmail (dot) com
ReplyDeleteI love Home Goods, unfortunately the closest one is about an hour away. I go anytime I get the chance!
ReplyDeleteWell if I am honest I have never been inside HomeGoods. Up until a year ago I was always so cheap, and kept home decor to a minimum. I visited KIRKLAND's and IKEA met a woman who was a huge DIY'er she then told me about Pinterest, and I have been hooked ever since. So after Pinterest I found you and a few others on fb and now there is no turning back. **(noglesby@msn.com)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!! I love the classic, clean, look. It is refreshing, relaxing and timeless all at the same time!! Thanks for the inspiration an what just a few pieces can do to transform a room!!
ReplyDeleteI meant to add, I do love your mantel. However, I think the current wall color around the mantel, with the additions looks beautiful together.
ReplyDeleteI love it too! It's making me rethink the paint color even more. ;)
DeleteI love Home Goods! My favorite purchase is a mirror that I have on my mantel in my living room.
ReplyDeleteHome Goods is the best! Love what you have done with your bedroom! Thanks for the chance to win! Taratrakan@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI can spend hours at Home Goods...love that store! juliandmike@msn.com
ReplyDeleteI love Home Goods and always end up leaving with much more than I intended to buy
ReplyDeleteHome Goods is one of my favorite stores! I could so get in trouble in there everytime I go. AND YES, I hear singing! =0)
ReplyDeleteLove the updates! Would love a gift card from HomeGoods! annied1983atgmaildotcom
ReplyDeleteI love your new mirror and candle sticks!! I went to Home Goods for the first time a few months ago with a friend and I never wanted to leave!!
ReplyDeleteI am fairly new to your blog but oh my goodness - I am addicted to your engaging ideas and found so much inspiration! I haven't had the opportunity to purchase at Home Goods in a very long time - I have a new grandson and it's been expensive loving him! but I am realizing it's time to do a few things to make my home a little cozy for the holidays! Thanks for the chance! Donna email: donnapdx@live.com
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Homegoods! I hear singing every time I go in there.
ReplyDeleteLove the candlestick and how you drew just the right amount of navy in on both sides. Looks awesome! I agree with the mirror as well, not too big or too small but just perfect.
ReplyDeleteI accidentally found a HomeGoods while trolling around Indianapolis looking for that flea market thing we did earlier this year (or was it last year? Dear lord I've gone mad). I fell in love. I haven't been back since, but a $50 gift card would probably get me there!
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of Home Goods before. I am intrigued. I loved the way you pulled all the colors together. You are giving me inspiration to...decorate and step away from the paint brush.
ReplyDeleteLOVE LOVE LOVE Home Goods! I always find something I desperately need in there. My favorite purchase has been some really comfy big towels I found at a great price. donaperkins@verizon.net
ReplyDeleteI'm headed to Home Goods right now!! Lots of property stagers and model home 'furnishers' shop there. Love the mirrors, linens, beach decor, glassware... My happy place :0)
ReplyDeleteyetter33@comcast.net
Looks so relaxing! Love the mirror and how you plugged in the navy with a book!! Home Goods is my go to place.
ReplyDeleteSdswanner@gmail.com
I heart homegoods too! My best purchase was a $30 mirror I got for above my fireplace....the horror! ;)
ReplyDeleteI love EVERYTHING at homegoods. I have trouble not squealing in there and scaring people. I have bought mirrors and things like that, but my favorite purchase was actually something small. It was a sparkly brown (beautiful!!!!) reindeer I bought around Christmas. It is still one of my favorite things I can't wait to take out every year! jessicabuben at yahoo dot com
ReplyDeleteLove Home Goods! The tweaks. Made a big difference
ReplyDeleteWhen I enter HomeGoods (or any TJ Maxx affiliate for that matter) the hallelujah chorus instantly sounds and world is beautiful :) But, really.. sometimes I just walk around the entire store with a cart gathering up my most favoritest things, and then go and put them all back in the end because I've already spent my decorating budget. But, I still find satisfaction in knowing that there are beautiful things out there for great prices!
ReplyDeleteI love HomeGoods!! and I love how you have changed the room with slight changes...
ReplyDeleteHome Goods is my go to store for all things decorating and I'm so sad that I havent had time to go to the new one in Noblesville!! phicks@jongleux.com
Penny
HomeGoods is on my way home from the office. So, let's just say that I stop in there at least once a week. Love that store and all the gorgeous bargains that I've found there!
ReplyDeleteI bought a huge wicker basket for throws for my daughter's new house this past Saturday. LOVE HG!
ReplyDeleteLove home goods! just recently bought orange chevron throw pillows. My favorite addition to our living room!
ReplyDeleteWe just recently (a year ago is recently right?) got a Home Goods and I have yet to go. It is a good 40 minutes from my house and have wondered if it was worth the drive. I see that it might just be worth it.
ReplyDeleteI love Home Goods! I just bought a few fun bar accessories to give my brother in law for his wedding in a few months. I saw a rooster made out of magazines there once and it made my day, it was hilarious! I always find something interesting, it's so fun to just walk around there.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! I think mirrors above fireplaces are great! Way to just go with your gut.
ReplyDeleterappsodyinrooms {@} gmail {.} com
HomeGoods is the bombdiggity! We don't have one close, but it's worth the drive!
ReplyDeleteI pinned. Please enter me into the drawing. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love HomeGoods! Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI hear the singing every time I go in! My favorite purchases are probably the little boxwood topiaries I got there this spring!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE Home Goods. We actually just got one in our area about 6 months ago. I would hear you rave about it, but I could never find one close enough! Each time I go in, I spend over an hour just combing thru the entire store. It's my "me" time :) Can't wait to see it all decked out for Christmas! Thank you for sharing! sarahannbingham(at)gmail(dot)com
ReplyDeleteOMGOSH, I love Home Goods with an unrivaled passion!!! So many things in my home come from there, but I love my pillows in the living room and some of my holiday decor the most. Oooooo I hope I win!!
ReplyDeleteI adore Home Goods. I can get lost in there going through the rows again and again discovering new things. I recently purchased some adorable storage boxes that look like books. So fun to keep little treasures in.
ReplyDeleteI love Home Goods! I always go to the clearance section because I love the challenge of a DIY repair and getting a deep discount. My best purchase was a 6 ft. wool runner from Turkey that I paid $30 for because there was a stain on it. I cleaned it with white vinegar and Oxyclean. Every time I walk on it, I smile because it it was such a bargain.
ReplyDeleteDef hear singing when I walk in. It's so hard not to buy a ton of stuff there. My favorite recent purchase was glass art that reminds me of my trip to NZ. I wish I would have bought something while I was there, but I didn't. So when I saw something similar at HG, I snatched it up. It sits on top of my bookshelf and I smile whenever I look at it!
ReplyDeleteI love homegoods, and have one right by me! :)
ReplyDeleteHome Goods is my best friend when I'm out shopping by myself. I can spent hours in there. I have even been there so long people have thought I worked there which would be a bad thing for me.They would get back the whole paycheck back.
ReplyDeleteHomeGoods is AMAZING!!!! LOVE that store, but I don't often go in there because it's hard with a limited budget. When I go in, it's straight to the clearance section!! I got a great beachy picture frame and a fabulous rug for my daughter's bedroom! Thanks for the the giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteThere is a Home Goods fairly close to me and I'm taking MY birthday off next week and will probably stop by! Thanks for the giveaway! mlsoehnlen (at) gmail (dot) com
ReplyDeletemy sister in law is helping me learn to love Home goods. it's so hard for me to look around and find a treasure.
ReplyDeleteLove love love home goods!!! Richardlindsayjacob(@)gmail(.)com
ReplyDeletewe do not have a home goods where i live but i want to go so bad. there is one near my aunt so if i win i can go and see her and go to home goods so that would be a double win.ang,
ReplyDeletemerk underscore doug at alliancecom dot net
HomeGoods just moved to our area, too. It's a beautiful thing! So many pretty things to look at...and purchase. My favorite purchase so far was an adorable turquoise metal colander. So small, but so cute!
ReplyDeleteI just love to walk in to HomeGoods--all those pretties just waiting for us. I always find that perfect something I didn't think I needed...
ReplyDeleteWho doesn't love homegoods?! Only crazy people! I love that I can find things for every room of my house and that none of it breaks the bank. I think I'm headed there on my lunch break now :)
ReplyDeleteI love HG, even though there is not one in my town --- have to travel to Raleigh, NC, to shop there!!! Hope I win. Sylvia smccarley1@nc.rr.com
ReplyDeleteLove Home Goods and so happy there's one less than 5 minutes from our house:) Love the navy in your room! gludim(at)hotmail(dot)com
ReplyDeleteI love Homegoods, but there isn't one right in my town either. Sigh!
ReplyDeleteebmusser at hotmail dot com
I have not bought anything from them yet but I did see some throw pillows and about a million other things I want! I have only been in once when they had their grand opening,it is an amazing store! jessie02ams@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI think I might be the only woman alive who has never been to HomeGoods ... I just bought my first house so I'll definitely need to remedy that soon!
ReplyDeleteI try to check out Homegoods at least once a month- never know what treasures you will find. I get particularly excited about finding high quality kitchen ware....
ReplyDeletelindsaymalter(at)gmail(dot)com
Love, love, love it! Thanks for sharing - and the paint looks gorgeous as it is! :) cjlord@netzero.net
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Home Goods! And ours is less than 5 minutes from our house, which depending on who you ask (me or my husband) is either wonderful or terrible ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love Home Goods! I go frequently, and although I don't have a FAVORITE item, my most recent was an octagonal mirror similar to yours!
ReplyDeleteOh I love Homegoods, dont get to go as often as I would like. There is not one in my hometown. So I have to travel a bit to get to one ( worth it) but by the time I pay for gas that lowers how much I can spend (sniffle) Wow, to be able to spend $50 would be a blessing! mom9497@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sherri
LOVE HomeGoods! One opened up right down the road from our house this year, and it's constantly tempting me! :)
ReplyDeleteI love HomeGoods and I too would use the gift card to update my master bedroom!
ReplyDeleteYes, the first time I went to HomeGoods I was giddy! It's a good thing the store is 30 miles from me or I'd be in there every day!
ReplyDeleteoh yes...home goods is absolutely a girl's best therapy and soul soother! it's a weekly must!! wordywalls(at)yahoo(dot)com.
ReplyDeleteI love HomeGoods! I'm there at least twice a month! My most recent purchase was some sheets for our bed. I've also been redoing my bedroom. Your room is looking great! melaniemaeusa(at)yahoo(dot)com
ReplyDeleteI don't get to visit HomeGoods too often because it is not close to where I live. However, when I do go, I ALWAYS find something I like. I am a sucker for blankets. Many of the items in my home office came from HomeGoods. It's such a happy place.
ReplyDeleteI looooove Home Goods. suprisingly, I really enjoy their stationary section haha
ReplyDeletekmontague7@gmail.com
Love, love, love Home Goods! Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI love Home Goods! Our living room needs serious help and this would be great.
ReplyDeletecmepodolski@gmail.com
I don't have a Home Goods nearby, so I've only been once, but I think I did hear the singing, yes.
ReplyDeleteAll I bought was a little ceramic bowl, but I love it!
And I'd definitely go out of my way to get back there if I won the $50 gift card! :)
Thanks for the chance!

I love Home Goods! I was just in there last night and picked up a candy dish in the clearance section for $1.99 yep $1.99! I also got some Thanksgiving and Halloween kitchen towels. My daughter got 2 jackets - our Home Goods has a TJ Maxx attached to it so double the fun!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the post! Us Home Goods lovers have to stick together! Victoria - dragonfliesandthistles@gmail.com
I just got a fall table runner this week from HG that I really love. I love your redo - especially the mirror! I am tying to figure out what to do for my mantle in my family room. My email is kelly.e.huffman@gmail.com. Best giveaway ever!
ReplyDeleteLove that mirror. Love, love, love everything Home Goods. It will be tough to point out a single item coz my house is full of Home Goods/ TJMaxx?Marshalls stuff! I keep joking that when I die my spirit will the happiest if my ashes were sprinkled inside an Home Goods store (gross, I know). :)
ReplyDeletevidyasnair@whatsurhomestory.com
I love Home Goods!
ReplyDeleteLove the change! I remember when I first started reading your blog I saw the "No-mirror" tip and I looked up at my mantle and thought, "Oh no!" Haha. Wow, that feels like a long time ago now. :)
ReplyDeleteI used to live near a Home Goods and loved it!
i LOVE LOVE LOVE our home goods. my absolute favorite find was a little set of drawers with a magnetic metal recessed top that I use for storing craft supplies.
ReplyDeletetodayimet(at)yahoo(dot)com
I've been to Home Good only twice, since it's quite a bit out of the way for me,but after my first visit I decided it's the best store ever. The angels were singing!! I actually went this weekend and picked up a beautiful throw blanket for my brand new couch. Love!
ReplyDeleteraisingcain at live dot com
I love Home Goods!! I'm pretty sure every lamp in my house is from Home Goods...yes, my husband had to initiate a Home Goods lamp purchasing ban...but that doesn't mean I don't still pet them every time I'm there!
ReplyDeletemichelleslonaker[at]hotmail[dot]com
singing every time, haha! my fav part is probably the basket section at my home goods, so many and always so cheap! pillow section is pretty great too :)
ReplyDeletethanks!

Home Goods is like therapy. It's such a fun place to browse and makes me feel happy.
ReplyDeleteLove HomeGoods! I don't think I have a room in my home that doesn't include a HG purchase! It would be impossible to pick my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI would love to shop at a Home Goods! I have never been to one, but I know there is one about 40 minutes away from my home. I'd love any excuse to visit and shop. :)
ReplyDeleteI am showing your mantle décor to my daughter who just bought her first home...going to Homegoods to see if I can find some similar candle sticks for her. Neither she or I have ever had mantles before. What a great space to decorate. Have been looking at your past blogs for ideas.
ReplyDeleteI def. hear singing when I walk into Home Goods, but the song goes something like this- Your husband's gonna get you! LOL! Thanks for the awesome giveaway, Sarah. I love your new mantel updates. The mirror is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteLove Home Goods! Went to the new Home Goods this past Sunday in Noblesville - it is just awesome! Hard to say what my favorite find has been because we have so many in our home. Your mantle looks great and would really appreciate a gift card to redo ours.

ReplyDeleteI love Home Goods, it's like Target to me, I can never leave without blowing my budget! Thanks so much for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI <3 love LOVE HomeGoods. ! shop there for myself as well as the Staging company I work for. (More for them than myself unfortunately due to budget constraints!) I love their kitchen section and walking through the lighting section sends me in to dream land. I could design a whole room around a lamp! Pinned you in my "To Inspire" folder! :o)
ReplyDeleteEveryone who knows me, knows that I LOVE TJMaxx. I love it mostly for the awesome and well priced home decor. Then I discovered Home Goods which as we all know is TJMaxx home decor on crack! I was addicted!!!
ReplyDeleteI looooove the soft and silvery grays in your bedroom!!
ReplyDeleteI wish there were a Home Goods nearby. Wait, maybe there's one in Nashville... is there a Home Goods in Nashville? Now I need to investigate!
Love Home Goods! Just went the other night for the first time in a few years and forgot how much I love it! Got a cute cutting board, a great vase, and a Halloween costume for my puppy! Can't beat that!
ReplyDeleteI am OBsessed with Homegoods! I am convinced that they pump some type of magical air through that place...air that makes me spend money, but also feel euphoric while doing so. There are too many items from Homegoods in our house to count. One favorite is a great leather upholstered bench that we bought a few years back to sit at the end of our guest bed. It's a great looking piece and it was C-H-E-A-P! And to answer your question, yes, now that I think of it, choirs of angels are definitely rejoicing in song whenever I walk into a Homegoods store. Thanks for a great giveaway! :)
ReplyDeleteMy nearest Homegoods is about 2 hours away! I horrible so when i do go its usually an all day event and not a cheap one ;) hehe - Nicole nicole.betterley@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteNow that you mention it - I do hear singing when I go to Homegoods. LOL. I've been "Home Goods Happy" since first meeting the store <3 "sigh"
ReplyDeleteI stop in Home Goods pretty much every time I get that far down the road. And sometimes I go that far down the road just to go to Home Goods. The very first time I went in there I found some amazing Rosenthal highballs. Eventually my lovely family broke every single one of them. I've been trying to duplicate that find for years - no dice.
ReplyDeleteEvery time I go in I find fascinating things. I love some of their prices. I always get hand soaps there, the selection they have is wonderful.
My new go-to for decorating is mercury glass...it looks great on the mantel and Home Goods always has pieces that are elegant and inexpensive. Love your new mantel look, btw!
ReplyDeleteHAVE I BEEN TO HOME GOODS?! It's like Heaven on Earth for me! I probably go to a TJ Maxx/Home Goods on a weekly basis. At least actually but don't tell my husband :) Anytime I'm looking to redo a room or add a little pick me up to an already decorated room, I always head to Home Goods to find something unique. And ALWAYS find just what I never knew I needed! My email is sarahbmalone@gmail.com. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteMy city just opened a homegoods (Flowood, MS) and I have been in there at LEAST once a week, eyeballing the rug selection! I love their lamps...heck, I love everything in HomeGoods!!
ReplyDeleteI was just at HG a week ago! Bought a groovy rug for my kitchen and a ceramic garden stool. I've been wanting a garden stool for my living room for about two years. They always have them at HG but they still cost more than I wanted to spend. After two years of waiting, I found the perfect one for just $39.99!!! SCORE!
ReplyDeleteI love Home Goods. And I'm really tired of our "college-esque" bedroom. We've only been married for 7 years now. Based on the results of Home Goods survey, it might be time to spruce it up!
ReplyDeleteLOVE Homegoods! I always seem to come home with a new piece of serveware or fun pasta or new throw. It's a wonderfully, dangerous store and my first pick to just go shop in.
ReplyDeleteI have a TJ Maxx Homegoods where I live. Does that count? I love that store!
ReplyDeleteWe don't have a store here where I live. I would love to win a gift card and find a store close to me. Thank you for the give away. I love your new mantel.
ReplyDelete*sigh* HomeGoods! Love love love that store!!
ReplyDeleteIt's just that every time I go something bad happens and I can't really enjoy my time! I either have all 3 boys with me (and you know that doesn't go well in a store like that) so I'm zipping through and skipping the breakable aisles which are NO fun to skip!! Or I have a child who suddenly projectile vomits all over himself, the cart, the aisle, EVERYWHERE! So embarrassing! What I really need to do is go by myself! It's my birthday week too (if I remember right you're also the 9th like me! tomorrow! yippee! :) So a birthday gift card would be so awesome and maybe I could sneak away to spend it alone! :)
I LOVE Homegoods! You can find such good deals! meg3501@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I've been in one before but hopefully a gift card works online! I just bought a new house and we are starting from scratch in the decorating department!
ReplyDeleteWow, that made a major difference. It looks really, really nice.
ReplyDeleteWe have a Homegoods near us, but I've never been. I know, (gasp). But I'd be more than happy to go check it out with some money in my pocket. :)
I love HomeGoods! One of my favorite places to buy random dishes and goodies. I recently got a huge corkboard from there.
ReplyDeleteHomeGoods is my "therapy" store! I love it! I love their clearance items, too. I can always find something...like the frame on clearance for $8 that I turned into my new headboard for my bed! Turned out great! Anyway, the mantel looks amazing and thanks for all the inspiration! dorothyalevras@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteWe always check out Home Goods for artwork and decor. Many times, we go to look around when we don't need something in particular, yet we always seem to leave with something! : )
ReplyDeleteI love homegoods and have to avoid going there otherwise I spend way too much money :). Thanks for the giveaway! Elizabeth.flamm@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI've never been to HomeGoods. Sounds like I need to check it out. Thanks!
ReplyDeletecwalsh (at) new.rr.com
I love that HG is NEVER the same store twice. Loads of inspiration each time I go.
ReplyDeleteHaven't been to Homegoods in quite a while ... will have to check it out!! llaskey1117@gmail.com
ReplyDeletelove homegoods
ReplyDeleteHomegoods...I have only been one time and I did hear singing. It was beautiful and wonderful and I didn't buy anything because I wanted everything,. I would LOVE a giftcard because I want to say I have bought something there. :)
ReplyDeletei have a pig-shaped cheese board from homegoods that always makes me smile. Also, cheese makes me smile!
ReplyDeleteAlmost my entire home is decorated with HG items. I love the store so much that, unless I have money to burn, I have to stay away! I WILL. BUY. EVERYTHING. My fave purchase to date it probably my gorgeous Ralph Lauren lamp :) ajoyschelling@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteLove me some Home Goods, just bought two wonderful lamps there last week. They are both blue, one the shade of a blue mason jar and the other is in the teal family. Blue is my fave color drrrrrr why did I never think to decorate with it before?!!!!
ReplyDeletegreen(dot)k(at)sbcglobal(dot)net
Homegoods has been a favorite spot of mine for a LONG time....it is like heaven walking in! I recently moved into our first house and you can imagine how much money was spent there. I love buying wall decor, and I have the most gorgeous rug in my living room from Homegoods. I could do a lot of damage there if I had unlimited funds! kdifolco7@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Homegoods!!! Did I hear singing? Not sure cuz I was screaming "WOW!! What a great store!" I would stop at the Birmingham store on the way to visit family. Now we have 3 in my area!!!! YIPEEE!!!! My favorite purchase was an adorable small 2-step stool I have in my kitchen. mollyb@comcast.net!

ReplyDeleteHome Goods is my favorite store. Even my husband knows how much I love it since he suggests it any time I am a little down. I also love your site. Have a Happy Birthday. dmrichard2005@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteLOVE Homegoods. I always find something in there that I just HAVE to have...LOL! I decorated our back porch by the pool with some beach themed items that I purchased there in early summer and we loved it.

ReplyDeleteHG is my fave!!! I stalk their aisles like 4 times a week! Too many favorite finds to name just one, but I did buy an awesome geometric wood mirror the other day! I love it! :)
ReplyDeleteYep, I've been there...A LOT! Just dropped $300 bucks there Saturday afternoon as a matter of fact. :) angelinatobin at gmail dot com
ReplyDeleteI drive over an hour each way to go to HomeGoods and I think it is so worth it! It feels like angels singing when I walk in the doors
ReplyDeleteI love their classic pieces for decorating! I would happily spend the $50 on new throw pillows for my couch!
ReplyDeleteLove Home Goods!!! Wish I didn't have to drive to the North side to get to it though (and the checkout lines are always completely insane there....which just tells me that I am not the only one who adores the store!!) Thanks for a great giveaway! Your mantel looks great!! Loving the transformation in your bedroom!!

HG is my favorite! Wish it was closer to home but I love to stop by whenever I'm in the area! Love your grey mirror - I'm planning to do our bedroom in grey!
ReplyDeleteMy DH panics when he is driving with me and sees a Home Goods sign, because he knows it is going to be a while before we get where we are headed. You cannot beat HG -- especially when you really don't need anything, but you need a little pick me up. This is my starting point for every project...so much inspiration, inventory and incredible prices! What more could we ask for!! (maybe some televisions for the men to watch while we shop!!)
ReplyDeleteI am in the minority. I have never been to Homegoods but sure would LOVE to go to see all of the wonderful accessories they have and to come home with something that makes your day because you have the perfect spot for it. I have been wanting to go there and see what they have.

ReplyDeleteI want that big mirror from Homegoods! And the big buddha head we saw!!
ReplyDeleteHomegoods is one of my favorite stores -- although I need a significant block of time in order to go in, so I don't get there all that often. I'm always drawn to the furniture and wall decor sections -- I found a great deal on a dark brown leather arm chair there a couple of years ago and just smile every time I see it. Love your blog, too -- inspires me every week!

Homegoods is my go to place when I really need to satisfy my need to get something new or add to my holiday decorations but don't have much to spend. I ALWAYS find something there!!
ReplyDeleteWhen I walk through the doors at Home Goods, I swear I hear Angels singing!
ReplyDeleteI love Home Goods! I find the coolest things there. One of my most recent purchases was a set of faux moss balls and a cute wire basket. I never know what I'm going to find, and that's why I love going there. -Taryn

I love the Home Goods store! I was introduced to it probably 3 years ago. they have the coolest things from gourmet treat to dishes to baskets all at reasonable prices!
ReplyDeleteHomeGoods is my home away from home! I remember the first few times I went I got so overwhelmed with all it's awesomeness that I left empty handed. Now I go armed with measurements and cell pics of the area I'm redecorating. It really helps!
ReplyDeleteI love the makeover! I'm a mirror over the fireplace girl myself!
Your space looks beautiful. Good job with the orchid. I still can't manage to get one to rebloom.
ReplyDeleteThis store always inspires me to redecorate! I'm currently looking for a mirror for my fireplace as well and would love to make a trip to HG soon.
ReplyDeleteEverything at Home Goods is awesome. Probably because of all the angels singing. jklmaldridge at aol dot com
ReplyDeleteThere's a HomeGoods near me now and we are in LOVE with each other!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the lamps and textiles and wall decor and dishes.
We will fall in love all over again soon when I'm wowed with mercury glass winter and Christmas decorations.
While I love home goods from my heart, I'm pretty sure they love me for my money...but I'm ok with that. :)

ReplyDeleteMaybe I missed it, but is the mirror from Home Goods? I love it and want to 2 of them in my bathroom. I went to HG last night for a beautiful latern and tonight for a rug (they're holding it for me now) so that I can do the big foyer reveal on my blog this week. We just bought our house in Aug. and I've had a blast decorating it. I think I'm in HG at least once a week. :-)

HOMEGOODS is my FAVE!!! And my hubs is off work right now due to the shut down so I need me some retail therapy more now than ever!!! kellierichards@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI honestly did not even know I had a Home Goods store here in my city!!! until I read your blog and then I began searching. Lo and behold! I'm driving down the street one day while car shopping and the angels did sing! There it was, but my hubby was in no mood for home decor shopping after spending half a day car shopping :( I have yet to make it back there but I promise I will! Especially if I win a gift card :) Thank you for the giveaway. I'll repin you too!

I love Home Goods (and your blog). I have been visiting the store weekly since moving into our new house a couple of months ago. My favorite puchase is a mirror for my entry that looks exactly like the Bellesol mirror from Ballard for less than half the price! It totally makes my entry, love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks,
