For about, forever, I’ve wanted a craft cutter – I have drooled over them in your posts. I have coveted your adorable crafts. I have sighed as I walked by them at the craft store.
And now…the day has come. I have one of my very own. My BFFs at How Does She and Silhouette contacted me and asked if I’d like to try one out – and if I didn’t like it I could send it back.
**This giveway is now closed.
I looked up the Silhouette online just to see what it was capable of, and got more and more excited with every click. I did the happy dance the day it arrived on our porch. It was soooo pretty:
There are SO many crafting possibilities with this one! My favorite by far is the vinyl cutting option.

I have wanted to try the glass etching forever and now. I. can. I love all of the scrapbook tools and papers but have never scrapbooked! But those of you who do would LOVE the Silhouette!
Can you even imagine the fun I’m going to have during the holidays? The pumpkins? The ghosts? The Santas? GIDDY!
My mind was swimming with ideas when mine arrived, but my first completed project was for the kitchen, of course. :)
I took a little crate thingamabob from a recent thrift store shopping trip with my pal Beckie:

Since I didn’t have any apple green vinyl, I tried it out with some card stock. I had a blast trying out some of the (many!) fonts:

The one I loved was a bit delicate to glue it onto the crate, so I decided to paint the negative space (punched out the letters above and then used the paper as a stencil) instead:

To get a really clean look you’ll want to use vinyl as the stencil, but I actually LOVE how this looked a little imperfect – it was just the look I was going for!
I finished it off with some faux greenery and I luuurve it!:

I had planned on putting this up above the cabinets since it’s so full and tall, but it’s so darn cute, I love having it down on the counter too!:
Gah. It is adorable!
What I think is the best part about the Silhouette is there is NO need for cartridges – you create your own text and shapes. AND it comes with ton of images you can use, as well as a bunch you can download online.

ReplyDeleteI would use the heat transfers the most. I would turn EVERY cheap plain shirt i could find into something FABULOUS for my kids! WOOT!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to download some damask designs - they're so intricate and the machine would cut them so much more easily than I would by hand!
ReplyDeleteI would use the cut out - you are my sunshine... my mom use to sing that to me when I was little
ReplyDeleteI love all the adorable flourishes and flowers you can use with it. I could spend large amounts of money just on the downloads!
ReplyDeleteI would make a thank you card that is out of this world for you for offering this awesome giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI learn so much good stuff from my blogging friends! I'd never heard of this brand, only Cricut and that's way too expensive. First thing I'd do is etch glass....it looked so pretty on their website. I'd go crazy beautifying my stuff. Super fun!
ReplyDeleteThe first thing I would do with the machine is take it on a date. To my favorite scrapbook store. ;)
ReplyDeleteOhh the pages I see forming.

I have a ton of things that I would love to label with vinyl!
ReplyDelete1. I want, need, and have to have this!!!
ReplyDeleteI heart you! This is the best thing ever, it seems to be even more versatile than the Cricut. I have ten bazillion ideas running through my head right now on what I would do with it. I think I actually better make a list! One more thing to keep me addicted to late nights in the quiet of my scraproom. I will start by using the vinyl lettering feature, then I will use it to decorate my kids rooms and add some awesome embellishment to their scrapbooks. The best thing I can think of right now is all of the amazing things I could use it for in my classroom. No more endless hours in the staff work room using the old manual punch die cut machine. Oh man, the time it would save alone. I may not be able to control myself! OMG! I must win this. My head hurts I am so excited!!!!!!! mkr0728@gmail.com
ReplyDelete2. I would be printing up some vinyl like it's nobody's business. I heart me some vinyl!
ReplyDeleteoh my...i would totally experiment with the etching as i have been wanting to for so long now. i have a bottle of the cream, i just need the fantastic tool to make the stencils. =]
