Well…it’s done! And I am in love!
It’s been raining for two days straight, so I was rushing like mad to get pics while it was somewhat bright out earlier today. It’s not all perfect, but who cares. I am in love. :)
In my next post I will give you the low down on all the little details, but for now, I'll just share thehundreds few pictures I took. ;)
I present to you…a big boy room in primary colors! (Never say you will never use primary colors cause then you’ll use them and be in love with them and eat. your. words!):
For the entry into the room, I made a sign using vinyl from an Etsy shop.
I know, I kept the bedding as a little surprise. :) It was a splurge:
The shams, comforter and blanket were all from Pottery Barn Kids. I’ve heard they hold up incredibly well so I felt like it was worth it. I (kind of. not really. like to say I) evened out the cost of the PBK bedding with the airplane sheets from Kmart.
They were one of the very first purchases for the space and were the inspiration for the whole room!
I had a friend make some pillows to match the headboard:
And the bed skirt was a bit of a DIY project as well, but I’ll tell you more about that later this week:
Did you notice the sconces? ;) Squeal!!
I kept wavering between the original oil-rubbed bronze look and the brushed nickel, and then one of you suggested RED:
And OH dear LORDY I love it!:
You are ALL amazing by the way. ;) I was going back and forth between the two metal options and when red was mentioned I was HOOKED.
The airplane sheets are navy, red and yellow with just a bit of light blue. So those colors were used on the accessories throughout the built ins:
The shelves hold more of the little details I love:
The accessories mingle with some of our favorite pictures of our sweet Bub – most of them I took:
I tried not to overdo it with the airplanes but sheesh, it was hard!
Who knew airplanes could be so CUTE?:
The Bub in his three-year-old decorating brilliance wanted to add a pop of yellow to Squishy II’s gumball machine tank with a SpongeBob doodad we found at the pet store:
Squishy II totally digs him:
I will share all of the details (costs, where I bought, how I transformed) in the next post. For now, I. am. pooped.
Do I miss the apple green nursery? I have to say, I wasn’t sad at all to paint over all the soothing colors that were his baby room:
Because I waited till he was ready, I was ready and I had a clear idea in my head of what I wanted to do. I loved his nursery more than I can even express!
But now my boy is getting bigger and so is his room. Sniff. ;) And now we love it just as much as the nursery, but in a different, big boy way:
I hope you enjoyed the process! Thanks for coming along for the ride. ;)

I actually have one more piece on the way to finish it off but I just love how it welcomes us into the room:
The built ins look beautiful and totally custom with the addition of some molding and wallpaper to the sides and painting the backs a beautiful gray blue:
It’s impossible to get a good picture of that wall – on bright days the sun blinds the shot and on dark days it just looks DARK. ;)
Because we didn’t put overhead lighting in this room when we built (uh…DUH. Why?!), the addition of the sconces by the window helps brighten up the space:
I filled the wall space above the bed and on the other long wall with molding and airplane art and it absolutely transformed the room!:
The easy board and batten (a little faux but a whole lotta pretty!) was the perfect finishing touch to the walls:
The DIY upholstered headboard works perfectly with the bedding!:
Obviously, the theme is airplanes. :)

I've been eyeing that bedding for some time, so I'm a little green...errr...red with envy!! I just love it all!
ReplyDeleteWow..funny story, I am re-doing my room in airplanes....only vintage and grown-up!
ReplyDeleteAs always you did a fab job!! Luv the primary colors!!
Can't wait to hear details..

ReplyDelete~mandy
Sarah! It's fab! Very classy.
ReplyDeleteI.love.it!!!! It is so cute. I had a vision very similar to this for my son's room. I wanted to do it when he was a baby. He is now 7 (today actually) and I never got to do it. I became single and we moved and now he's sharing a room with his sister. Oh well. I'll live vicariously through you. ;) I love all the little details. Great job!
ReplyDeleteWOW~ AMAZING! TOTALLY IN LOVE WITH IT ALL... MAGAZINE POTTERY BARN WORTHY! You have serious talent, and could make a great living doing interior designing. WAY TO GO! love all the aiplane details, and the bedding is fab. JGG
ReplyDeleteOMG...it is AMAZING!! You really knocked this one out of the park. What a talented lady you are!
ReplyDeleteso cute. i'm working on my boys room right now and I love the built ins. thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteFABulous!! My son's room was antique red, white and blue, with the inspiration being a red, white and blue quilt I made for his bed. But the colors were more antiqued. I am a freak for red. What a wonderful room for your growing little boy. Made me miss my son's room! He is 21 now, and doesn't live here anymore. Time goes so fast!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like something out of a very very high end magazine.
ReplyDeletevery sweet! i think the neutral walls tame the blues and reds. such a nice balance.
ReplyDeleteand i must ask... the gumball aquarium. how does it hold the water without leaking? or was it specifically made for fish? i MUST know! lol
It looks great! Your son must LOVE it!!
ReplyDeleteKelly
You did an aswesome job! Your little boy must love it! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the lamp! Nice touches to the detail. I love the picture with the swimming goggles!
ReplyDeleteFantastic job. I love the airplane theme, it is adorable... You thought of everything and it shows. Those sconces are such a nice touch too.
ReplyDeleteTHanks for sharing.
You did a fabulous job! And I am totally with you about the growing up thing of course you love the baby years but you gotta love your kids in the new age they are in. We are into the Taylor Swift era and it is FUN!
ReplyDeleteThe big boy room looks fantastic! I love all the details. I really love the quilt!
ReplyDeleteI N C R E D I B L E!!! I love love love it! I so wish I could hire you to come decorate our rooms! Amazing attention to details and just perfect! I bed the Bub loves it too!
ReplyDeleteOh I just love it. I am in the process of updating my sons room as well as my daughters. My little guy is still in a crib, and it will be a new big boy room for him as well. Thanks for sharing this!
ReplyDeleteRed sconces! Of course! I stopped reading the comments after the first 50 or so said paint them nickel and figured you would...but red! For sure :D
ReplyDeleteThe room is amazing!
It looks just as I expected...totally fab. Great job. I bet your little guy loves it!
ReplyDeleteYou always leave us readers on pins and needles with anticipation! I was thrilled to find your blog post and think the room looks amazing!!! You definitely transformed his baby room into a big boy room ~ and with 'flying' colors nonetheless. Such inspiration for us all.
ReplyDeleteOh I LURVE it! And I love that I will be redoing my lil' stinker's room soon and you have given me tons of ideas! Same colors but a vintage sports theme is what I think I'm gonna go with. You are so good at what you do! I always say its all about the details! Great job!
ReplyDeleteIt looks fabulous! I love it. I bet your son loves it too. What a fabulous place for him to call his own.
ReplyDeleteI really love the way you displayed the art with the mouldings around it...very clever! A lot of bang for the buck. And oh, the PB bedding, I've been in love with for a long time...so if you're going to splurge, that was a good place to do it!
ReplyDeleteGreat job, lady!
Wow. That room is A.MAZ.ING. I need you to come to my house :-).
ReplyDeleteOh, that is all simply adorable. Just perfect for a not-so-little but not-too-big boy.
ReplyDeleteSuper, super cute! I know you worked really hard on all the details and it shows. All of the photos and cute touches on the shelves look fabulous and all of the brightly colored airplanes are adorable! I bet he just loves his new big boy room!
ReplyDeleteWow! I love it! It is SUPER SUPER cute!
ReplyDeleteLove the room. I really like all the airplanes too. My boys would be so jealous.
ReplyDeleteI splurged on the Pottery barn quilts for my boys too and have to say I've been SO happy with them. I have a son that still wets his bed and we have to wash his blanket a lot. I bet I've washed it like 30 times at least and it STILL looks exactly like the other 2 boys matching quilts. No fading or bunching. Worth the $ for sure!
Brook
Sarah, this room totally pops in all the right places! I love the deeper tones yet you've flip flopped the lights vs darks so it's still bright and cheerful. The picture mounting is total genius and so original!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely lovely room! You should be very proud. Here's hoping the Bub has the most dreamy sleeps in such whimsical surroundings. :)
Donna
Girl...I absolutely love it! It is a SOARING success!!!
ReplyDeletethat room looks wonderful. It was so much fun watching it come to live.
ReplyDeleteThis room is unbelieveable.
ReplyDeleteYou attention to detail is remarkable.
I love the room. LOVE it. But... how will you keep that way? My daughter is 4 and her room is always cluttered with toys. Do you have a separate toy room? Is his bedroom only for sleeping? Our rule is that her younger brother is not allowed in her room, so she puts all her most treasured toys in there. She knows that any toy left in the playroom is fair game to get drooled on by the baby!
ReplyDeleteMy favorites of this room are the dark walls and the yellow vintage looking plane. So great! PB stuff holds up amazing! I splurged on a quilt 7 years ago for my kids room and it has been through it all and still looks great!
ReplyDeleteIt is absolutely gorgeous!!! I thought the nursery was cute, but must say that the big boy room is even better!!! LOVE the airplane theme too cute! If I have a 3rd son I'll have to steal it:)
ReplyDeleteJust some friendly advice, buy 2 or 3 sets of those airplane sheets if you haven't already;) I bought my older son the cutest striped sheets at Target a couple years ago that go with his bedding perfectly, unfortunately the fitted sheet now has a hole in it and I am kicking myself that I didn't buy 2! (I do have some plain sheets for him, just not the super-cute striped one)
Absolutely inspiring! And so motivating! How long did that take you to do? Maybe a month? Impressive. BTW, so funny how you thought we'd notice the price tag on that plane...only til you mentioned it, but I totally get noticing details. :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks absolutely AMAZING! I love all of the details and you have a real talent for dressing shelves. Well done!
ReplyDeleteWow, wow, wow! What an amazing job you did. What a lucky little boy! I've been working on Indy's room for a while and now you've inspired me to get moving. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteReally really gorgeous job. I bet he's tickled pink!!! So great that you had a good time doing it, and great thinking to wait until you were both ready to move on!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the great work you've done :)
you totally knocked it out of the park! I can't figure out my fav - all the planes, the lampshade detail, the moldings, the framed pics in the wall frame, the ready nook...oh my... just fantastic!
ReplyDeleteKim @ http://frostmeblog.blogspot.com
party inspiration
Wow! I lurve it too! I noticed the cute airplane lamp, did you use a brushed nickel spray for the base? Or did you get it like that? Just curious, I've been perusing the blogs in regards to ORB and such!
ReplyDeleteI am a total fan of your blog. Found myself a cheese dome and candle sticks at a garage sale this weekend! Can't wait to make my cloche and post about it!
Today I posted about how I'm addicted to Pottery Barn, should have posted about how I'm addicted to Thrifty Decor Chick!! :)
Suzanne's Blog-Mommy Moves Again
Have a great Monday!
Fabulous! I love it all, especially the bedding. Thanks for sharing the pics.
ReplyDeleteIt's a gorgeous and rich looking room, but very comfortable looking too. Awesome job!
ReplyDeleteAmazing room, everything about it from color of walls to bedding to accessories is incredible.
ReplyDeleteit is so beautiful! congratulations! and you are right - the pottery barn kids bedding holds up unbelievably well. we bought sheets and matching duvet for my son 6 years ago and they show NO signs of wear. not even a button has popped off of the duvet. when i made his "bigger" boy room he still wanted to keep that bedding and it worked great.
ReplyDeleteAwesome!!! Totally fittin for a little guy.... I love the primary colors and the freshness of the bright white! Well done :D
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love it, Sarah! You did a great job.
ReplyDeleteIt turned out perfectly! Love it. I too splurge on PBK quilts and so far so good with washing them up. I did have my son's first big boy one spread color at the stitching but PBK was awesome and sent a brand new one that washed up fine! Don't be afraid to ask if that happens to you. You totally rocked this room (and every other you do)!
ReplyDeleteI love it! Wouldn't mind having that room for my son, lol. I would love to know how you did the planes on the lampshade so I could copy that one myself. :-)
ReplyDeleteThat is absolutely an awesome transformation...I really like the layout....if my boys were still little, they would love to have a room like that. Great job....
ReplyDeleteIt looks AMAZING! I love it too....I'm so impressed that you transformed EVERYTHING!! You do all the little details...it is a totally new room. I'm so inspired to "finish" my kids rooms. And I must admit that I saw the red sconces before you mentioned them and I thought "Wow, red looks awesome"... I'm noticing the amazing details.....Congrats on a great job!!
ReplyDeleteOh. My. Goodness. Awesome room! I have two girls, but I'm inspired to come up with something fabulous!
ReplyDeleteAWESOME! Well done girl :-)
ReplyDeletesacksaw@aol.com
It is SO SO beautiful! And SO "big-boy" in a super cute way. :)
ReplyDeleteSarah!!! This is just perfection! :) I love the red sconces...all the little details are fabulous. I am totally drooling over your built-ins. I bet The Bub is in heaven!! :)
ReplyDeleteFantastic! Love the red sconces up against the white. ;) And the little red lantern! So many great touches really. I think I saw the headboard fabric at Joanns. Was it Nautica? Goes great with the bedding!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! You did a great job :)
ReplyDeleteLove it, love it, love it!!! What a beautiful room (in a bit boy sort of way) :)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love it!
ReplyDeleteThe room looks absolutely charming and will be appropriate for many years to come! That might be good and bad, (good because you won't need to redecorate for a few years and bad because you won't have to redecorate for a few years!) Thanks for all of the inspiration. Whenever I bring crazy things home from the thrift store or start spray painting random things in the house and people think I'm CRAZY, I just show them your blog and then I seem much less so :) Thats just to say you're much more ambitious that I am! The Rate My Space people will have nothing but nice things to say and if they don't well, I'm sure you can think of a nice place to send them :)!
ReplyDeleteAwesome... purely awesome!
ReplyDeleteThat room is awesome!! Great job! I kkep saying it reminds me of my son's room.....only bub's is way more fabulous. My son is almost 8 and starting to have his own opinions on how he would like his room. Pokemon bedding, and decorating with deer antlers...(Cringe) I will put that off for as long as I can!
ReplyDeleteI am so in love with the stitched star bedding for our cowboy playroom and extra guest bedroom! I have been absolutely coveting it and stalking eBay watching for it at a good price. You were right to go for it- it looks awesome!
ReplyDeleteSarah, that room is fabulous!!! Love it!
ReplyDeleteSarah,
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! I love it. I STILL can't figure out what to do in my 6 yo's room. We have added a few train items since he loves trains, but I just can't figure out what to do with his walls. He still has the baby Snoopy on the walls from his crib days. I know....sad....
Jennifer M.
You did a wonderful job! It's adorable.
ReplyDeleteLove the touch with the airplane-I saw one at a garage sale this weekend but wasn't sure what I would do with it. Very cool!
ReplyDeleteAdorable! You are so determined. I need some of your motivation to do my 4yr daughter's room. love the details :)
ReplyDeleteLove it! I'm in the middle of doing a airplane themed nursery for my first little boy, so I can't wait to hear the details of where everything came from.
ReplyDeletethis is so nice ... i think i would've painted behind your pictures though .. yellow?? what a difference though!
ReplyDeleteWow, Sarah you did an unbelievable job! It looks like a picture straight out of a PB Kids magazine! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAmazing sarah! There are so many navy rooms lately. I'm scared to do my own for the boys! But, seeing your sons room has given me the itch to move forward!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
Love the room. You did an amazing job.
ReplyDeletethis room has SUCH good bones to begin with, but you really did it justice. wow. normally, i don't care for theme rooms, but you did the airplane theme PERFECTLY. you have one lucky little boy :)
ReplyDeleteSarah, I love the room. You've outdone yourself. My favorite part...the photos in the bookcase, PRICELESS!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing - I love it!! What theme would you choose if you had a girl? I will be doing 2 girls rooms soon.
ReplyDeletefound your site via a search for airplane bedrooms! i'm looking to do the same this summer...could you tell me the brand and color paint you used? we've purchased the SAME quilts :) also, where did you get the fabulous hanging airplanes? the ones from PBK kids are sold out. dang it!
ReplyDeletelooks great!
Thank you so much for sharing all the little details~ it makes such a difference. Love, love, love it~ don't know what to say. Congrats on another job well done!
ReplyDeleteI lurve it too! I'm so glad you went with red on the sconces, it looks fantastic. (I was one of many who suggested red. Can I take credit for how great that looks? No, all you!!) I love all the little details. The colors and style will grow nicely with the Bub. Awesome job.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks AMAZING! Great job!!
ReplyDeleteabsolutely fabulous, I love everything about it!!!
ReplyDeletethat is fricking AWESOME, Sarah!!!
ReplyDeleteWords fail me, except to say that I love the pops of red on the bookshelves and that you did an AWESOME job! It looks just great.
ReplyDeletehttp://photocraftbook.wordpress.com
gah, it looks so fantastic. red for the sconces was absolute genius, and i was honestly surprised to see that color there, but its the right choice!
ReplyDeleteThe room is amazing! You did such a beautiful job, and you can tell you poured your heart and soul into it. It is so classic, and will easily grow with him over the next 10 years or more!! Great Job!
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog and I am in LOVE!!!! Your son's room is adorable, our son's nursery was done in a vintage travel theme which incorporated a lot of these elements. We're looking to change it up into a "big boy" room soon since he's getting bigger and has a definate opinion about what he wants. Your whole blog made me smile, I'll be back soon!
ReplyDeleteYou? Are a ROCK STAR!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm SO looking forward to reading this week's posts with all the details. You take great pictures and I love that you post a lot of them. Wide angle, close ups, bunches and bunches.
Rock star, you are!
WONDERFUL! It was totally worth the wait. You did an awesome job.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely ADORABLE and CLASSY! Love it!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to be so bold and said this is probably the most amazing boy's room I've seen. I love every little detail.
ReplyDeleteRate my Space is a scary place, I never posted but read the comments...yikes...but I KNOW there are only going to be good possitive things to say about this room!
Oh.My.Gosh. I LOVE it! I love all the airplanes in the room and I don't think you overdid it at all. Love the bedding! Great Job! and who cares if rate my space doesn't like it. You do and that's all that matters.
ReplyDeleteSarah, you have every right to be uber proud of this room. It turned out adorable! I am in love with all the little details. The airplanes on the lamps are precious and that bright red piggy bank is so cute! I love it all. Nicely done girlfriend!
ReplyDeleteOh, I just adore every part of it! I've been lurking throughout this redo and am very excited to see the finished room. I never would have thought to use a bamboo shade in this room but it looks great and whatever you spent on the bedding, it was worth it b/c it looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteReally cute! My boys have an airplane themed room too, but never look complete. I now have some inspiration to help me out!
ReplyDeleteNow if I could only have your talent for molding.....
So gorgeous! Makes me want to have a baby now!
ReplyDeleteSoooo adorable! I love it!!
ReplyDeleteQUESTION: Can you share the measurements of the bedroom when you do the run-down on the details? It looks similar in size to my little guys room, but I've always been afraid that color on the walls would be too much in such a small room. But, it looks SO good in that room. Sooo, approximate measurements would be awesome to know.
Great work! LOVE your blog :) :)
One more question! Your white frames. Did you buy them like that? Or make them with molding? They look so substantial and nice. Not like dollar store frames spray painted white. Just curious. I'm always trying to find nice frames for cheap!
ReplyDeleteNow I feel sorry for my children. No, I pity them.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely wonderful! You out did yourself. I am sure your Bub is enjoying his new digs. :) Thanks for sharing this cool big boy room with us.
ReplyDeleteI love the sconces peaking through the curtains and the oversized framed photo above the bed! Great job!! Janell
ReplyDeleteOMG!! This room is fab! I can't believe you are nervous about posting pics on Rate my Space..gurl they got nothing on you...you could sooo have your own show on HGTV!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is just fabulous! Love all your choices...he is going to just love it! What a lucky boy!
ReplyDeleteWow, it looks SO great! If I ever have to do a big boy room (I have three girls!) I hope it would look similar to this. Youre amazing.
ReplyDeleteThis room looks AMAZING. It has the high-end look of a professional design touch! I love it I love it I love it! You really inspire me to do more myself!
ReplyDeleteGOrgeous!!! What a wonderful room for his, I bet he just loves it :) Good luck with RMS, I know what you mean, it gets a little scary hee hee. Thank goodness for blogland :)
ReplyDeleteTake care
Kristin

What a fabulous makeover!
ReplyDeleteMy hubs, a former air cadet, still has a thing for airplanes, so I'm dying to know where you picked up the silver propeller that you've hung near the doorway?! Something like that would be fab in his office!
wow! an amazing finish! love the red on the sconces. Great touch! congrats on an adorable space!
ReplyDeleteOh my word does it ever look fabulous! Seriously. One big question though, how did you get your 3 year old to want something that wasn't like Lightning McQueen or Spiderman? I wanted to do dinosaurs in my DS's room and make it along the lines of your room, but my son is insistant on spiderman or hulk or lightning mcqueen. ugghh...
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love it! I'm wanting to redo my son's room and have been looking for inspiration. You have provided that ten times over! While my son is not into airplanes, there are many ideas in here that have inspired me to make a room perfect for him and his interests. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteMomma, you rock! That room will definitely see him into his teen years. I'm in love with it.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing! I love that bedding.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I was delighted to find your blog listed as one of the top decorating blogs on the Bella Online for Women site. You knew, didn't you? It is in the Home and Garden section, under Budget Decor. The editor gave a little blurb about you and your website...nice!
This is the CUTEST big boy room I have seen in so long!!! I LOVE all of the colors and planes!!! Great job!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!!! You are amazing! Love the bedding, love the aviation theme...LOVE it all! Way to go!
ReplyDeleteit looks awesome!! i will say in my experience Pottery Barn stuff does hold up well. We actually have the airplane quilt for my 4 year old's room. I just made his Baby Martex "In Flight" room more Big Boy by adding that quilt and not having to change the mural on the wall! :) Congrats! Moving to a big boy room is a big deal!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks amazing!! I was so excited to see you had posted the reveal! I love every little detail (even sponge bob). What a fun room for the bub!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun room!! But may I ask, where did the little one sleep at night while you were decking out his plane haven?? I'd love to re-do the kiddies room but where to put them??? =) Thanks so much for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteI do love what you have done, but i would be lying if I didn't say that I have a small lump in my throat thinking of you painting over the baby look. Oh say that I will never have to paint over the baby blue in my Thomas' room...please say i wont ;)!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great room. I showed it to my 4year old and he thought it was pretty great too.
ReplyDeleteSimply AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteSimply TALENTED!
Simply WONDERFUL!
You're anything but simple, but what you continue to show us is that even beautifully chic home decor can be achieved by being simply thrifty!
Oh and don't feel bad about spending $$ on your PB bed stuff, cause of all the $$ you saved by doing a lot yourself!
It is absolutely perfect! The bright accents are great!
ReplyDeleteAnd I totally want that bedding for my little boy, too. His "baby" room was done in red and white gingham, and we're thinking about putting up a bed in his room, and that would be perfect bedding.
Well worth the wait. It is awesome. You do such great work. I can tell this is truly a labor of love for you.
ReplyDeleteOh, Sarah. . . what a wonderful, wonderful space! It looks great. I started to say that it looks beautiful, but that's the wrong word for a boy space. You have demonstrated that a boy's room can be wonderful, inspired, fun, AND great-looking!!
ReplyDeleteDid you add cording around the headboard? It looks like it from the pics--and it looks awesome!
Great job, Mom!!
Love the theme and the touch of Chic :)
ReplyDeleteVery nice!
ReplyDeleteI've got your back at Rate MY Space along with your followers! What's not to lurve?
Absolutely LOVE IT!!!! I'm just gathering things here & there to start my 3yr old's big boy room! You may have mentioned it, but what color is the blue that you used? I LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE IT! It's all in the details and they are perfect.
ReplyDeleteI'm totally stealing the board and batten idea for my girl's room. They want pink and keeping the bottom white is the only way I can tolerate it.
ReplyDeletegorgeous!!! love the airplanes (that's our nursery theme, but we still have a ton of work to do) and i can't wait to read on where you got them!!!
ReplyDeleteStop it.. that's the most precious room EVER!! I am in love with those airplanes. Those bookcases, the airplane trim.. the list of love goes on & on!!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the transformation!!!
Tessa
The room is so perfectly pieced together, you paid attention to every detail, well done. I find my rooms are never full done and it bothers me, here's to giving me inspiration to complete the tasks.
ReplyDeleteHoly Cheez-its!
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous!!!
Absolutely gorgeous.
My little one went from cute frogs & dragonflies to Iron Man & the Incedible Hulk.
Not what mommy wanted but I can't resist his baby blues.
Ha!
You flew this out the park. lol
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love all of it!!!! I saw the red pop on the sconces and said to myself,"Hey,I thought she was going metal...???" Love the red so much!!!! Such a fantastic job!! Thanks for sharing it all with us,lots of great ideas there!!
ReplyDeleteIt’s just gorgeous, in a big boy kinda way, of course. I love the bedding, I’m a sucker for red, white & blue. And all the details, wonderful. Thanks for sharing all the photos! Great job.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful room! I'm glad you have lots of pictures...I bet it won't look like that for long, once your three year old gets in there!! ;o)
ReplyDeleteLaurie
THIS IS RIDICULOUSLY CUTE! You are amazing... seriously... You have one lucky little man. I bet he loves this room and he can totally grow into it. AMAZING, I tell ya.
ReplyDeleteI love it too! The red lamp arms jumped right out at me immediately and I agree, they are just perfect :) The room looks gorgeous.
ReplyDelete-akmom
absolutely amazing. i love it. wouldn't it be great if it could stay that neat & clean all the time? :) love your creativity!
ReplyDeleteI love it!!! I'm getting ready to start thinking about changing our boy's room from a nursery to a big boy room and you have given me a lot of inspiration! You are so talented! :)
ReplyDeleteI just recently discovered your blog, and have been spending time enjoying all of your amazing posts. This room came out so stinkin' cute!! I ABSOLUTELY love the theme you picked. Does your little man just love it to pieces? You put some of those Pottery Barn rooms to shame. :)
ReplyDeleteI love it Sarah...it is perfect. I'm sorry I haven't been by to visit more...I'm totally slacking at even keeping up on my own blog!
ReplyDeleteWow...staggeringly, overwhelmingly, absolutely, unbelieveably BEAUTIFUL!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE it. All the little details are so perfect! Wow. You are my new DIY Room Makeover HERO.
It kind of makes me want to turn all of my DIY projects over to YOU...but, then I guess they wouldn't be DIY anymore...
I know you must be proud!
Wow, this really does look great. I am impressed, congrats!
ReplyDeleteSoooo cute! I love all the little details...and the colored books are a great touch, but just a suggestion, maybe you can find some books on Lindburgh and/or Amelia to mix in? Just a thought. You are mucho talented and I love looking at all your projects just for fun and also inspiration. :) I'm thinking of copying your gumball fish bowl idea since we have an unused pink gumball machine and my 10 year old has been asking for a fish! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's brilliant! =D
ReplyDeleteWOW!! It looks amazing!! You did a fabulous job.
ReplyDeleteGORGEOUS. I love all the little details ... the airplanes on the shade, the striped fabric on the stool, and the bed linens are absolutely beautiful. Well worth the splurge, they totally make the room.
ReplyDeleteAMAZING. Every last detail was thought of and is delightful! Congratulations on finishing!
ReplyDeleteLOVE it!!!!! Love that propeller on the wall - how stinkin' cute is that?
ReplyDeleteSarah!! I need a little "bowing down" smiley dude! You ROCKED THIS GIRL!! LOVE LOVE LOVE every detail!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lucky little guy!!
Jaw open in awe! Super cute room! Great work!
ReplyDeleteOh! I love this room! My kids share a room right now, but I am working on splitting them up. My idea is to have my daughter in a Marie Antoinette type room (think the movie with Kirsten Dunst) and I was thinking of doing my boys room just like that PB room you showed. But I love your room! I just might have to change my plans for my little guy's room.
ReplyDeleteI AM SOOOOO GOING TO COPY THIS WHEN IT'S TIME TO TRANSITION OUT OF THE NURSERY FOR MY LITTLE GUY! I looove this! It's beautiful! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteThat looks FANTASTIC! I'll have to file this away in my favorites because I have a feeling I will one day do an airplane room. My husband is a 3rd generation pilot..so if we ever have a boy...I'm so doing this ;)
ReplyDeleteI posted some cute kid's rooms on my blog today, you should check it out!

Thanks for so many great ideas!
I LOVE the room and the wall color. Great job and I too plan to copy some of the elements when my little guy needs a big boy room! Watching some of your video's has given me some very misguided confidence that I can do things around my house...and I plan to start in the very near future.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
I love your blog!! This room is so stinkin cute! I've done airplanes in my son's nursery and hopefully we'll be able to convert it into something like your son's new room. Thanks for posting! I'm giving you a blog award at {little-inspirations.blogspot.com}. :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this room. You have done such a WONDERFUL job on it! I had a thought.. It would look awesome if you added 2 red stars above the bed on both sides of the molding. It would tie in with the bedding perfectly. It's just a thought, I'm not being critical. You can take it or leave it ;) With or without, the room is VERY well done. Good job, Sarah. :)

ReplyDeleteG O R G E O U S !!! Amazing transformation from nursery to big boy! Love it!
ReplyDeleteSo my only question is when are you coming to San Diego to redo my nursery?? Seriously loving this new big boy room. It makes me excited to transition my little one to a big girl room. Great job!!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'll admit that I totally thought you were crazy for wanting to paint over those cuuuute stripes but now that I've seen these pictures, I'm mentally eating my words! Looks awesome
ReplyDeleteOkay. This post brought me out from my lurking to say: LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! You did a fabulous job! I love the reds and blues for your 'big' boy and it will grow so nicely with him, too! Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI've been following you forever, or at least a few months. Love your blog and this room is adorable. Two favorites; the red sconces and the paint or paper you used on the sides of the bookcase. It is the little details that make this room so special. Great job!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love the new big boy room. You did such a good job of creating a "fly away" environment, I know want to fly somewhere myself! preferably to the beach :) I must ask, though, are there plug-ins behind that stuff on the bottom shelf?? What a fabulous idea!
ReplyDeletefabulous room!
ReplyDeleteThis space is nothing short of spectacular. Seriously. It's perfect!
ReplyDelete-FringeGirl
Wonderful, it's a room that he could definately grow in. Love it!
ReplyDeleteThis room is of course so adorable! My favs are the lampshades! Such a simple touch, but so detailed and irresistable!
ReplyDeleteThank you for calling me smart when I mentioned the multiple airplane sheets;)
ReplyDeleteLove the details! I love that you spray-painted the propeller--great idea! The room really did come together beautifully!
I adore the way you have decorated his bedroom, i love stars, my son has decided he now wants a star wars bedroom. I was going to go with using a lot of stars and stripes fabric but he wants the actual picture duvet which i swore i would never allow in my kids bedrooms but i think i am going to have to backdown and try and source it oversees as South Africa is very slow when it comes to keeping up with the times.
ReplyDeleteI like the yellow airplane. Very cool.
ReplyDeleteKelly
Wowzers ! What a charming and FUN space for your little/big boy to grow up in. I love, love, love that quilt too ! I wanted it in brown for my twins room, but they vetoed it - could be because they're 19 - lol !!!!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the journey !

Love your sons new big boy room. Your splurge on the bedding ties it all together and was well worth it for the design. Terrific job and I'm sure he dreams sweetly in his new room created with love by momma!
ReplyDeleteI have to add my kudos, cuz I love love love this new look! My favorite parts are the built-in bookcases and the PBK bedding. My boys have airplanes too!
ReplyDeleteI love the room it so boy and perfect with all the airplane touches. Now to decide what color to do for my little flier...red and brown or navy and red or navy and light blue....oh the decisions. I keep changing my mind depending on the bedding, art and accents I see. I also have a collection of hobby lobby airplanes I have been saving for my sons big boy airplane room. His name is Maverick so airplanes is the perfect theme for him and he loves them too. Thanks so much for all the great airplane room ideas.
ReplyDeleteI am copying the WHOLE thing! Seriously! My son has a good start in his room but you have a lot of the details that I'd like to try. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHoly Smokes that's great! LOVE the colors and all the special touches. I just redid my son's room for 'big boy' and it was the most fun project I've done to date. Something about doing something you love so much...and who you know will love the space so much!!
ReplyDeletefyi -- i'm wasting all kinds of time on your blog now that I've found it! (and following)
