I think it's time I show you the rest of my fall decor around here, because, well...I'll be honest...Christmas stuff is finding it's way out.
The fall stuff is going to be boxed up soon. :)
I decorate on the cheap whenever possible, as you know. Here are some more examples of how I do this for fall!
When I made this candlescape for the powder room last year, the rocks came with the little acorns. Most of the year, those are put away, but for now, they are arranged on top, giving the pot-tay just a touch of fall:
These tin containers came inside a couple of my Southern Living sconces, I guess for if you use real flowers in them. Pushaw, like that's gonna happen. So I use the inserts on their own, one in our living room, one for fall stuff in the kitchen window:
Some foam inside, stick the beady stuff in, fill in with faux apples. Easy peasy. And colorful!
Last year I got dollar store frames, some pretty paper and stenciled letters on to make this:
I wrap beady stuff around candles whenever I can:
Loverly!
More beady. More candles:
I just took the iron piece above and used wire cutters to take the stuff off of fall pics to fill it. Can you get any easier than that? Noooooooo, you cannot.
Speaking of candles, I fell in LOVE with these blingy votive holders when I saw them at the craft store:OH, I just love these things. I wish they made them ten times this size. I added a fall-toned tassel that came from my old dining room to the lamp and it's done:
Can you tell I used to sell Southern Living at Home? I think their stuff is just classic -- it's been six years and I still love every piece:
A little iron pumpkin with random fillers thrown in, stacked on books:
Texture peeps! Stacking items! You can't go wrong! Stop yelling Sarah!
Spray paint strikes again. ;) I sprayed some pine cones for some color:
Cause you know I need color.
I replaced a tray that was in this spot with a beautiful platter from HomeGoods:
I want to eat hot dogs off it, I love it that much. Gorg.
I took my Goodwill plates that just happen to be full of fall color and just plopped them right on top of the Dollar Store plates that were already here:
Sigh... You've done WAY better with your fall decorating than I have. I usually do better for Christmas and I start earlier like you do. My husband's family comes for Thanksgiving and I try to have it done by then because they're not here for Christmas. Thanks for sharing fall before you put it away!

Oh, I love all of your fall decor. Now you know that I really got tuned in when I saw the cloches. I just know that you will be joining the "Holiday Cloche Party" won't you!!!!!! I do hope you will join us. I can't wait to see what you do with them for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteOOOh I think I have those sconces from Southern Living. I'll have to take the insides out. Great idea!
ReplyDeleteEric Cartman from South Park!!!
ReplyDeletebtw....luuuuuuuurve your decorating style!!!!!! so thrifty :-)
ReplyDeleteSuzanne Sacksaw@aolcom
ok the pine cones are sick! ..that means awesome in teenspeek! LOL love it!
ReplyDeleteLovely! Love the cloches and all your little touches. I'll have to look for some beady stuff on clearance at Michael's. Part of me is looking forward to decorating for Christmas already ~ I usually start on Thanksgiving and if we have nice weather I'll be outside setting up lights.
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful! I love how you use spray painted the pinecones!
ReplyDeleteSo darn cute you make me gag with the fabulousness of it all!
ReplyDeleteWhat an "aha" moment to read about just clipping the picks off to stick into other arrangements. Love it! I know your Christmas stuff will be fab...I can't bring myself to put away Fall yet, even though it. is. killing. me.
Oh, you are truly a Fallen woman! I love all of your pretties! You certainly know how to make pretty!
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Girl - don't even apologize! I tried to tell my husband that since we are traveling for Thanksgiving that it's totally legit to start getting the winter/Christmas decor out. He promptly reminded me that the Winter Solstice is not until Dec 21...he certainly was a "prettying up" party pooper! :)
ReplyDeleteAhhhhh...that was like perusing a magazine...lovely home!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Christmas is just around the corner. Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteLooks great, BUT.... bring on the Christmas decor!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of your pics is the child lock on your dining room door...those are SO familiar! lol
ReplyDeleteWhateva! You're not so tough-I run with GANGS. And we only commit hate crimes.
ReplyDelete(Disclaimer: I don't watch South Park, but I have seen this scene because my sister made me. Hee-ha-larious, especially since we've said the same thing for years. About doing what we want. Not the hate crime stuff.)
Do you have an electric fence around those cloches? How does your son no touchy? I'm way older than a toddler (by five years tops) and even I want to snatch off the top and watch everything fall.
Snatch....that's such a great word.
Why is it that everyone under the sun has a fab Goodwill cloche? Sooo jealous. Okay, jealousy aside, your decorations are beautiful, simple, and just plain lovely. I'm especially loving the CLOCHE! Sorry...jealousy again. :)
ReplyDeleteOh I love your house and decorations! I found some stuff at Goodwill yesterday that I normally would have skipped over because now I think.. Spray Painted? = Amazing? Yes I think so! I might have to take you up on the consultation too some day soon.
ReplyDeleteLovin' the Home Goods platter. They have such fun cheap mixy matchy stuff don't they?

The Blue Ridge Gal
I wish I could find goodwill pieces like you do! I think I have bum goodwills around here. Love the Cartman line ~
ReplyDeleteyeah... i'm over fall. starting gathering goodies for Christmas decorations and hubby bought a new and bigger tree with more lights today- I told him don't bother putting it away, it will be up soon. :)
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so warm and cozy. Oh, and, Sarah, I have your "Goodwill" plates! I bought them at WalMart several years ago. I only bought two for my plate holder, but wish I'd bought more. Of course I can't find them anymore. Maybe I should check my Goodwill store!
ReplyDeleteBee-u-tee-full!!! :) Seriously, beautiful job chicky! I am so inspired and can't wait for the Christmas extravaganza!!!!
ReplyDeleteOMG I never knew about Southern Home Living their stuff is so adorable.. This means trouble for me!
ReplyDeleteLove your fall stuff. Very pretty ... especially the "Beady Stuff".
ReplyDeleteI like a breather between my seasons. In Canada our Thanksgiving is in October ... so after Halloween we get a month without all those glitzy decorations before all the frenzy of Christmas. Ahhh
I am just in awe of how beautiful the fall decorations are in your home!!
ReplyDeleteJust SO Gorg!!
Love all the fall decor!! I so didn't get that done this year with all the "projects" and now it's time to start thinking about Christmas decor. Although this year I'm all for the natural elements...am hating the plastic stuff that's been in Hob Lob since JULY!!! Love all the SLAH stuff. I never thought to take out the inserts from my sconces...awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, I am falling behind on holiday decorating...already! OH WELL!!
ReplyDeleteI have to say everytime I open your newly designed blog I smile, it is so pretty!!!!!
Janell
Looks great! Hope you have fun with the Christmas stuff!! I'd like to bring some out too...but I'm hosting Thanksgiving..so I'm not sure if I should yet, heehee.
ReplyDeleteI too have those beautiful "good will" plates of yours. I got them from Walmart a few years ago. They may have pulled them off their shelves because I saw a story on the news about those exact plates having lead in them. They say they don't have enough in it to be too harmful to eat on. But the hotter the plate gets, the more lead leaks out so don't heat up your food on those plates. That's probably why someone gave them to Good Will.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your blog btw!
I like your style!
ReplyDelete*sniff* I wish our GW was as great as yours! All I end up finding is gross stuff... And I mean GROSS. Old bowling shoes... yucky underroos.... The ickiest of the ick. I still go, hoping to find that 'diamond in the rough'.
ReplyDeleteBTW- love the berries- they are everywhere in my home too!
I do believe I spy a Christmas Rug on the floor near your sink don't I? LOL
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm just itching to get Christmas out too. Here's my fall decor, just a wreath for now. http://www.simplymodernmom.com/2009/11/adorn-that-door/
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, just beautiful. If you want another chance to show it off, stop by my blog tomorrow. I'm having a boardwalk bragfest. No need to be humble. Just show off something that you're proud of and feel free to brag!
ReplyDeleteBEAUTIFUL! Could your house be any prettier? No! It is fantastically pretty.
ReplyDeleteXOXO
Jen
You are always so on top of seasons... I have to admit the only fall decor I have going on is my leaf in a picture frame... I am too busy keeping up with other projects and my frames. Maybe next year I will do some of these ideas :)
ReplyDeleteI love all of the decor...but MY GOODNESS...you found those dishes at Goodwill?!?! After 17 years of marriage my original set of dishes is just sad and broken and nowhere near a complete set, and it's finally time that I must replace them, and that's the exact set I've set my sights on! I cannot BELIEVE you found them at Goodwill!!! Some people have all the luck!
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas! Thanks.
Hey Sarah!! This is the first time I've left a comment for you! I have that same iron piece from Southern Living At Home...just never knew what to do with it! Thanks for the wonderful idea!
ReplyDelete(Is that a "Ho-Ho-Ho" kitchen mat I see peeking past the apple filled cloche??)
I love fall so much, I hang on to it as long as I can. . . but I have to admit, Christmas decorations are starting to whisper my name.
ReplyDeleteI love all the little touches you've added without spending money. And now we can see what you've done and shamelessly copy your ideas! Of course, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery--so you oughta feel very flattered!
Glad you're feeling better!
It all looks very nice. I love Fall.
ReplyDeleteThe South Park line is classic, hahaha! For me, looking at a good blog is more fun than a magazine subscription. : )
ReplyDeleteI'm so in luuuuurve with all of your fall decor!!! It's completely fabulous & I'm jealous that I can't decorate my teeny house yet b/c we're in the middle of a huge move.
ReplyDeleteI am in LOVE with your decor, so much I am on the hunt for a cloche now! Thank you for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteOh, and it's ok...I'm soooo decorating for Christmas soon :)
LOVE IT. Seriously I cannot wait to see your Christmas decorations!
ReplyDeleteYOU complete me. beady stuff, faux apples, stuff off a pick, and cloches...seriously. Be still my heart.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I absolutely LOVE your home! I visit your blog often, but i don't think I've left a comment before. I just love your style and the fact that you do it all so inexpensively is wonderful and inspiring!
ReplyDeleteI'm a green-eyed monster when I read your blog. :P lol You're so talented! ..and the yellow plates that you got from goodwill I bought full-price, along with a serving bowl and platter to match.. and I haven't even used them since I got them 2 years ago! It's horrible, horrible!! I'm taking them out TODAY!
ReplyDeleteYour house is so beautiful! Don't apologize for Christmas. My tree is already up!
ReplyDeleteLurve your blog!! And that character is the girl from Friday.
ReplyDeleteYou are so clever and talented! I love what you've put together. The beady candles are lovely!
ReplyDeleteGirl! I need to visit your local Goodwill store. Great ideas. Love your blog!!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing talent you have!!! Everyone at the boardwalk party today has been raving about your beautiful fall designs. It seems like you have the magical touch to turn ordinary into extra-ordinary. Your items all relay a custom decorated ambiance, and my eyes just want to take their time as they linger from one area to the next. Perfect execution! You have talent galore, and I am so proud to have the opportunity to brag about you!!! Same time next week? I sure hope so!
ReplyDeleteYour home is beautiful. I love all of my fall décor, but I’m very eager display my Christmas décor now. I’m counting down the days. I can’t wait to see what you have in store for Christmas this year.
