Last look at the house before move in!

Happy Friday! Things have happened so quick at the house, it's been hard to even keep you up to date. It's about done, but there is still a long list of items to finish up -- inside and out. But because it's almost complete, at least with the big stuff, I wanted to show you some semi-final photos. I probably won't share the house again until we move in so this may be it for a few weeks!
I've added a few before photos as well, so you can see how it's come together! Here's my favorite view in the house, even back then!:
I have learned through this build process that I have an ability to see things as they will look finished. I guess I've always known that about myself, but I'm realizing a lot of people can't see it like I do. My husband and kiddo are both a pleasantly surprised at how it's come together. They just couldn't see how it would turn out like I could see it in my mind. As with my room makeovers, it's just SO fun to see it come to life!
I couldn't be happier with our new staircase:
UGH I love it! It's exactly as it was in my head. I'm SO glad I went with white newel posts -- I changed that kind of late in the game and I'm thrilled with it all. I already know what I want for that wall. :)
Our master is completely done -- I'm going to try to get in to hang our new light sometime soon. I am starting to develop a vision for this room and I think it's going to be really beautiful:
I mentioned before how much I'm looking forward to our new shower, because our old one was tiny. Shaving my legs was always an event. Now...we have a bench. TO SIT ON:
I am obsessed with the tile I picked for the floor. I have a feeling it's going to be a pain to clean and I don't even care. Nope.
I have so many plans in mind for the mud room/laundry already. It's going to be a fun space! Here's what it looked like before:
And here's a similar shot (window is to the right):
The tile is ceramic and made to look like marble. I adore it. Many of you have asked about sources or brand names and I'm working on getting a list. All of this was sourced through the builder so I don't have a clue on most of them. But I will have them soon and will update these posts!
This next room is the one that I basically want to just throw a mattress on the floor and sleep in it because I love it so much. Our pantry was the size of a small closet in the old house (and I loved it!). But this is next level my friends:
It goes around to the right too, and I'm SO GLAD we splurged on the melamine shelving in here. I have fun plans in here -- it's going to be a cute and functional space. I've said it before but it's these smaller spaces (closets, our shower, this pantry) that I'm most excited about.
By the way, I've had so many people say to me, "What will you do now that you have a house with no projects?" And I just answer with do you even know me?? 😂😂 I have a million projects in my head. You KNOW I'm going to add my personal touch to everything.
The hardware went up in the kitchen and it looks even better than I imagined:
The glass went in the upper cabinets this week as well. The appliances are all in except for the stove hood. That's the story at this point -- exterior paint is done except for doors, tile is done except for about five tiles they were short, lights are mostly up except for the ones I'm literally DYING to see installed. Lots of almost there...so close!
I told you about the sexy fridge we were looking at a few weeks ago (yes, sexy), and our dishwasher is just as beautiful inside. All sleek and pretty and functional with all kinds of drawers and doodads and you just open it up to look at it. At least I do.I'm already dreaming up ideas for the powder room. I love small spaces like this because you can have so much fun with them. I adore the vanity (gotta find a basket for underneath) and the pretty countertop and sink:
I have to get a mirror for in there too and I can't wait to show you the light fixture! 😍
Here's a view of the fireplace months ago:
And here it is with light gray subway tile:
I wanted simple but classic, and the gray tile with white grout is so, so good. I can't wait to get this room put together!!
I don't think I'll share the house again till we move in, but that could change. We think the cleaners will be out next week or the week after and I can't wait to see it all cleaned up and ready to move in! Being patient and mature while waiting is HARD. Our ten-year-old is more patient than I've been.
Hope you enjoyed the update!! Have a great weekend my friends!
So, I have to admit, I was so sad when you said you were selling your house. I loved that house and all the love you put into it. Seeing all this newness is making me so excited and I honestly now can't wait to see the new one and all the projects you have in mind. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteOh I totally get that! We've been so excited and it's good because we haven't missed our old house. I thought for sure we would. We're just so happy to make this one our home. :)
DeleteGorgeous!! I want to see the outside too. :)
ReplyDeleteEverything is gorgeous. Cannot wait to see you put your special touches in it as well.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your family in this place :)
ReplyDeleteIt seems so "colorless" to me - such a change from when I started following you and you painted your ceilings colors too!
I can understand your excitement and eagerly anticipate more updates!! I think I would miss your backyard if I was you....especially this time of the year....
Ha! Uhh, yeah. Those days are over for me (other than blue ceilings!). ;) That was so long ago! It's actually the same colors I used in the old house, but keep in mind accessories and furniture aren't in yet.
DeleteRight! A much more neutral palette which you've begun leaning toward for years. Is it strange to have everything done at once instead of in stages/pieces?
DeleteIt looks fantastic Sarah! And can I just say how much I love your interior doors?!? And the beautiful handles as well - so much character and charm!
ReplyDeleteI am so excited to see your touches on this house. I feel like it's going to be a great movie to watch as it changes. I don't know how you stand the waiting. I am so excited and it's your home.
ReplyDeleteIt's looking so good! I have a similar tile in my bathroom. Mine is Marmol Venatino and is similar to carrara, but they offered the one you have and it was called statuario to mimic statuary marble. I'm pretty sure I just butchered those names lol. Mine was from Mediterrenea. I took a pic of the box because I got the same questions.

ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous! I sense your excitement. Want to say that your picture of your powder room, from what I can see, looks like it's about the same size as both of my bathrooms! My toilet & vanity are side-by-side & the tub is across from them. The space behind the open door (across from the vanity) is a 'jut' into the bath which is the closet of the adjoining bedroom. I'd love for you to 'play' with my small spaces! lol
ReplyDeleteTo this day I have no idea how you redid your house from the skeletal frame that it was. You are truly amazing and someone I admire everyday!

Your house is looking amazing! I love seeing the before and after shots and I bet you are so excited to move in. We just painted our kitchen cupboards a similar grey colour & love it. You are such an inspiration.

Congratulations!, What a beautiful house! It's going to be so much fun watching you turn it into a warm and welcoming home. D
ReplyDeleteIt all looks so great and has come a long way! Enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteI was at this place last week. This is such a joy as a place for food! I had a beautiful time here. It reminded me of another event space San Francisco. A beautiful, wonderful place that had excellent atmosphere.
ReplyDeleteExciting! I will say the white interior doors have me missing your black ones at your previous home. But, I get your new color palatte. Looking forward to seeing what touches you had to your new home.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! The house is beautiful now and I know it's just going to get better as you make it your own. I can't wait to follow along :)
ReplyDeleteThose hexagon marble tiles are the ones I was originally going to use in our master shower but I ended up changing my mind and exchanging them for white penny tiles.
ReplyDeleteThe paint color is perfect. Can you share that and your flooring choice?
ReplyDeleteLooks amazing!!
ReplyDeleteWhat are the dimensions of your shower? I am planning a reno and trying to figure out the size to have a bench and still room - yours is perfect!
I have similiar marble tile on my master bath shower floor. It was a pain in the rear to clean all those grout lines, until my SIL told me to use my broom to clean it. Wet the tile, then squirt on cleaner (I use Soft Scrub), then use your regular kitchen broom to firmly and briskly "sweep" the tile in different directions until clean. The broom is also a great tool for getting all the edges and corners clean. Bonus - your broom will never look cleaner.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, your new home is gorgeous!
I've been following in your footsteps--we recently sold a house I LOVED and had put my whole heart into when we suddenly fell in love with some new construction nearby! I have to pick paint colors in the next two weeks, and your gray is perfect! What color is it?
