Tickled PINK

Hey there! I'm back today to show you the color I've been decorating with a lot lately. A year or so ago if you had asked if I'd use pink in my house I'd emphatically tell you NO...but styles change over time and I've been craving the light freshness the color adds to a space.
There are six of us in this house (if you count the animals) and the girls are outnumbered four to two. ;) Lately I've enjoyed adding some feminine touches in the form of this pretty color and I LOVE it! It's not too much that my husband has really even noticed...at least I don't think. But it's enough to make me happy.
I actually started adding the first touches of pink in the house last year when I finished up the office/craft room makeover:
At the time I thought this would me more of a space for just me, but it turns out my husband absolutely loves working up here instead of his office basement. Can't say I blame him!
When it was time to decorate in here I added some pink accessories and fell in love with them:
So over the past six months or so I've picked up a few things here and there with pink in them. This throw is white and pink so it's not in-your-face GIRL but still pretty:
I've found pink works so well with the blues and gray colors I use throughout our house!
This blue and pink pillow was so perfect I couldn't pass it up:
I found some striped candles at Target in early spring and added them to the built ins around the mantel:
I also changed out the free printables that I had in the frames and searched specifically for floral prints with pink in them:
Again, not tons of it, but little bits that make me happy.
In the kitchen a few small items brighten up the space for spring and summer. Towels are such an easy and cheap way to add accent colors:
I found this sign at Joann's back in February -- I loved the design and message. It's so pretty above our stove:
And I couldn't resist this pretty pink candle at HomeGoods a couple months back:
I've been using a lot of pink florals too -- tulips are a great way to bring in that girly color!
"Blush" tones are a big in decor right now, but if you're not ready for pink walls or furniture, you can definitely add some touches of it around the house without the men feeling uncomfortable. ;)
As I mentioned, years ago I would have never used this in our home, but lately I'm in love with it. I also said I'd never use blue and look where I am now. 😂
Is there a color you never thought you'd use that you've fallen in love with? Have you added any pink around your home?
I like how the accents are minimal. It doesn't take over the rest of the colour theme but adds a little dynamic to your rooms!

Where's the blue and pink pillow from? So cute! (Sorry if I missed the link, I looked twice and didn't see it)

DeleteMy comment is actually a mash-up of this post and your previous one! We are the proud owners of a new-to-us Class A RV, and we absolutely LOVE it!! So far we've been to Michigan and Ontario; Galveston, TX; and Orlando, FL; as well as several RV parks local to us. Absolutely in love with it and with the people we've met along the way!
ReplyDeleteAnd, with the RV, came the decision of how to decorate it! My favorite color is purple, but I never felt it was a "family" color -- that is, I couldn't see how to accessorize our home with it. (Our home is primarily dark brown, beige, and red.) But it is a perfect color for a fun space like an RV!! I've been having such a blast making it my dream -- and I did add some gray into the mix for the hubs!
I've been doing the same thing lately with pink. I absolutely love touches of pink around my house. It's such a happy color, even my husband likes it. The blue pillow you have with pink trim is beautiful, it would go nicely with the colors in my house.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to know where you got the desk chairs in your upstairs office space. Everything about that room - and your whole house - is lovely!
ReplyDeleteA few years ago I took all of the color RED out of my home. I have nothing against red but I was so tired of it and was leaning toward a much more neutral space. However, I've noticed that a few things are creeping back in the form of throws, chair cushions and even in artwork. Red is a hard color to cut out of your life but have been thinking about the softness of pink. It's just me so I can be as girly as I want. It's funny how colors cycle in and out of our lives.
ReplyDeleteI use red in my bedroom because I found a dust ruffle several years ago that has red accents in the pattern. The red accents work well with the beautiful blues.
ReplyDeleteLove the touches of pink. Looks great.
ReplyDeleteLove the touches of pink! It's one of my favorite colors and I wouldn't have thought to decorate with it. Question! Where can I find shelves like yours (by the sink)? I've looked at Pottery Barn and other places but they're quite pricey. Would love something cute but budget friendly.
ReplyDeleteNever thought I would love little bit of pink or all white walls but after seeing them in so many posts am veering much more towards all white walls.
ReplyDeleteThe pink you have shown us is so subtle it blends right in with all your blues. That pillow with pink trim is to make a person forget they ever said no pink, lol.
Since I love cottage style with occasional other styles mixed in the pink would be "peachy". I can't stay with just one specific hard style, like to mix in beachy/lake in Summer or Cottage/travel or ? just depends what catches my fancy at the time, am quite spontaneously changeable.
I was noticing shelves in your kitchen, actually the brackets, where did you find those?
Your posts are always full of inspiration no matter where I look, you are one talented lady. the projects you do are incredible to me. Even help me think I might be able to accomplish one or two now and then.
I have been using black lately again! I got so sick of the heaviness of black furniture (circa 2010 or so) and I hated everything I owned that was black, and quickly set about spray painting everything white. I still love white, but I just spent a lot of time and money to make black and white buffalo check curtains in my living and dining room. I never thought I would do that! And I LOVE it! It reminds me of how you say every room needs a bit of black :)
ReplyDeleteHaha I just realized I was signed into my husband's account LOL! My poor husband just sounded incredibly feminine hahaha
DeleteAbout 2 years ago I started adding color. Ive always been a nutral kind of person. My nutral was darker browns, beige, and black. A few years ago I ended up home bound most of the time and realized my house made me depressed and all I wanted was color. Now I'm full on color everywhere and nothing dark. I used to hate pink. I always had a vision of Pepto Bismal when people talked about pink in their house. I now have pink everywhere, along with turquoise, orange, yellow, red, blue. As long as it isn't brown or black I'm all for it.
ReplyDeleteI love the little sprinkling of pink! I try not to go overboard with feminine accents, but it's hard to do when blush is such a trendy color!
